I used a 9volt battery multimeter set on diode testing to dim-ly light each of the 16 leds backlighting the non working TV. The leds were arranged in a series circuit and removing the only failed/non lighting led from the TV resulted in breaking the led. I removed excess solder from the printed circuit pads using copper solder wick and applied a thin touch of solder to each of the pads and then a little flux to each of the pads on the led chip. Then carefully holding the led down so that the chip does not slide around and using a pointy solder pen I alternately heated each pad of the led. Note .. I broke 2 new leds trying to remove them after soldering them on with the polarity wrong , remember to use diode Test to identify and place plus on plus and neg on neg...and careful to center the dividing line of the plus and neg over the pads so as to not cause a short which would allow all the other leds to light but not the shorted one. Buy with lamp desoldering hot plate and nudge the old LEDs off with soldering iron heated up to about 370C. Apply sticky no clean flux while on hot plate with a touch of new solder on the pads, drop the replacement LED on with tweezers, and take off hot plate as soon as possible when the solder wicks onto the LED. LEDs are quite heat sensitive so expect to burn up a few before getting a hang of it. But I felt like a master by the end of the job and can't recommend these lights enough.
