I bought an open box item
Turns out that what I got was not quite what was promised. I believe I got a Frankenstein repair. The top half is a Piranha and the bottom half is an Anjon Big Frog. They included both books. I would have not purchased it had I known this unless it was significantly discounted. Our other pump died and we really can't do without a pump so we decided to keep it. It works great but I felt like the description was dishonest or at least deceitful

So Far, Wow!
Our backyard falls courses down a hillside for about 30 feet. But after 12 years we needed to replace our Shinmaywa motor, which burned out. So far (1 week) this Piranha 5500 is very impressive - delivering a stronger flow even though the GPH ratings were similar, and the HP appears to be a little more than our old motor. Just hope this one will last as long.

Still on the fence
Purchased Piranha 6300 on May 1st 20 and it was hardly moving water 60 days later. My pond is 6000 gal. The issue is with the decorative grate on bottom with frogs I think? That is NOT shown in the picture on Amazon. It was clogging up with very small debris and drastically slowing down pump. My pond tech suggested we take of 3 small screws and it seems to be working great. Stay tuned

Powerful pump runs filter cc and waterfall for 1700 to 2000 gallon pond
Was the same pump I had previously. Connected easily and is 1 amp stronger. Blower if this pump is awesome. Works the filter cc at a high circulation be rate as well be as a waterfall. Our pond is roughly 1700 to 2000 gallons. Lots of med to large koi and goldfish. Keeps pond clean and clear without added expensive algea killing lights.

Short on longevity
Started off great. Shut the pump off to do a filter change on the pond and pump will not start. Bought it on Oct 28th/22 but it took a few days to get to us so just over a month old. Really a great pump just wish it ran more than a month.

Good power moves lots of water without plugging up
This pump is an excellent value for the amount of water it uses. And it hasn't plugged up or reduced flow from pond sediments.
