Your amp doesn’t suck. Your speaker does!
I acquired a Marshall Valvestate VS65R from a friend of mine and anyone who owns one of these hybrid amps from the 90s knows they are notoriously flat, lifeless, and possess a shrill tone lacking any kind of warmth. It was for this reason that this amp lived in my basement for a few years. I was just never happy with the way it sounded. I recently revisited this amp and a thought crossed my mind. Maybe it’s not the amp, but perhaps it’s the speaker. Enter the 65 watt Celestion G12 M Cream Back. After a fairly straight forward and easy speaker installation in the cabinet, it completely transformed my amp from a soulless, trebley mess to a full, rich, dynamic sounding amp. I finally have those warm, rich lows the other speaker was lacking yet the highs still sparkle. I’m so glad I decided to rehab this amp. Let this be a lesson to anyone unhappy with the way an amp sounds. It’s probably not your amp that sucks. It’s most likely just a low quality speaker.

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe speaker upgrade
Excellent speaker that brought my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp to a new level. The stock speaker is actually pretty good, but if you are looking for a little more ooomph, give this speaker a shot. Takes 20 hrs or so for speaker to break in.

Replaced Stock Speaker in Peavey Bandit 112
I replaced the stock Peavey Sheffield 1230 speaker in my Peavey Bandit 112. The Sheffield is a good speaker and some like it, but I found it to be overly middle to high mid forward sounding (clear yet too much in your face), lacking in the low mid (body and warmth), and can get harsh in the treble. Thus, I replaced the Sheffield with a Celestian G1265M Creamback (8 Ohm) and now the amp has a tight low end (slightly less than the G1275M Creamback), good low mid warmth and growl, and a fairly less mid forward sound while still retaining good clarity. I have, however, had to dial back both treble and presence control when compared to the stock speaker, but the Creamback seems to add a balance amount of gain (much wider bandwidth) in the treble and presence region that were missing in the stock speaker which makes the Creamback overall much smoother in sound even when having to dial back treble and presence controls to avoid harshness. With that said, I am happy with the overall sound of the Creamback and in particular the overdrive tones via pedals which are full, smooth, and clear with little to no ice-picky highs. Context is everything so the M Creamback may or may not fit well to your amp and guitar setup and for the tone you are looking for.

Great, and made in UK
Replaced a 70 80 with this in my amplifier, which is sort of a 30 watt Vox clone. Fit perfectly, good price point, tamed the super high frequencies and made my Firebird sound more well rounded. Has a nice British roar. Classic sort of rock tone but very smooth for clean playing as well. Came perfect with no damage or such. Says made in UK on it, and other models are made elsewhere, so maybe they used classic methods and tooling.

Great Speaker
Really enjoying this speaker. Running it in a Cub III 30. Swapped out the Bad Cat V30 with this to try something new. It’s a nice change. I’m a sucker for Greenbacks and that’s what it really reminds me of. Has that papery/woody feel and sound to it. Seems to thicken things up and round off some of the harsher highs with higher gain drive or fuzz pedals. I’d say the Bad Cat speaker has a little more of a 3D chime to the cleans. This is more balanced. Reminds me more of the Matchless sound. Was worried it wouldn’t have enough high end based off how it’s portrayed in a lot of YouTube demos but there is plenty in the room and under a sm57.

For those who want Greenback tone without the 4x12
I've wanted Greenbacks my whole life, but I've never been in a position to deal with the large size of a 4x12 cab. I'm restricted to 2x12s and Combos for all practical applications and recording. For me, the G12M-65 is an upgrade from 25 year old G12t-75s and oh. man. I'm not kidding when I say Creambacks changed my life. I had no idea how full and warm my guitar tone could sound. I've got a history of buying bright amps (for stage presence), my latest addition being an EVH 5150 iii 50 watt, and man that amp is so much more usable now. I play classic rock, up to Randy Rhoads' styles of gain, and the Creambacks help me nail those classic tones better than I ever have. They aren't even broken in yet. I can literally max out my gain and still hear clarity (which is unheard of). Creambacks really roll back that nasty, fuzzy, high-end that cascading gain stage amps can be notorious for, and the mids and bass really punch. I'm talking some serious bass that doesn't sound flubby to my ears. I'm been a gigging musician for 6 years, and a tone chaser for 11, and this has been the biggest breakthrough for me since I figured out what a Humbucker was.

Celestion G12M-65
Outstanding speaker for a 65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. Replaced the Jenson CK12. Sweetens out the high end and adds a little more midrange.

Five star
Superb. Replaced my combo speaker with this and this sounds so much better. It's lighter than my old one too. Has a clear sound.
