Decent drive. Just the size I needed.
I needed a good drive to replace the drive inside an old Sophos XG firewall. This was the right size and type, and works beautifully for the purpose. It's been chugging along for a while now, so I'm pleased with it. Good price.

Great drive for older M.2 based systems
I got this to expand the space on a small NUC system I wanted to use for a major task, but that had very little emmc space for it's primary drive (32G). This quadrupled my space and let me get things going and allowed me to re-use a system that otherwise would have simply been e-waste had I not been able to get it going.

KingSpec NT 2TB M.2 2242 SATA SSD โ Fast, HassleโFree Upgrade for GMKtec
I replaced my GMKtecโs 128 GB drive with the KingSpec NT Series 2 TB M.2 2242 SATA SSD and the performance jump is immediate. The drive fits the SATAโonly slot (no NVMe confusion), runs the full 6 Gb/s speed, stays cool under load, and gives plenty of space for games, media, and projects. A reliable, plugโandโplay upgrade that makes the system feel brandโnew.

Works with my old EliteBook 840 G1
I received the drive a day later than originally expected, but given all the weather event, pandemic, and o on, it wasn't a terrible hardship. The drive was easy to install but the notches in the part where you plug it into the computer were a little misleading. My laptop only has one notch in the socket but the drive has two. I'm not sure what is gong on there, but it seems to be fine. One thing did cause some minor frustration with this purchase. When you install the card, you have to use a small screw to hold it down against the computer's circuit board. However, the drive doesn't come with the screw an there wasn't one on the existing board. I was able to get a screw that works from my grandson but he had to take it from an old computer that he had in his closet. This could have been easily solved by including a screw in the package. The other thing that might be of interest to potential buyers is that when I first added the drive to my computer it didn't show up in the File Explorer window or device manager at all. I was able to do a Google search that explained that you have to initialize the drive first, using the Disk Manager that comes with Windows. I suppose you could argue that I should "just know how to do it", but a simple paragraph would have saved some poking around. Neither of these things was a deal-killer. once I initialized the drive I found that it's as fast as you would expect an SSD to be, which is to say it's really fast. If either of the above items had been addressed I would have given this item a 5 star rating instead of 4 stars. Now that you have read this review you can give it a 5 star rating since you know the two things about it that I didn't!

So far excellent compact second SSD drive
I am an IT professional and I like to use high quality, efficient and reliable hardware. I also like to take the maximum from what the hardware can offer. I have a Lenovo T540P I7 16GB machine as a preferred work horse. It came with a variety of slots and ports at a quite affordable price to me. So I love it and love to load it with power, at a reasonable cost and optimal budget. So, it used to be with one 500GB Samsung Evo 850 SSD as a main drive and one WD 7200rpm 750GB HD in the optical drive caddy. There is a slot for a WWAN card, which was empty and I knew it can be used to connect an m.2 SATA III SSD. I purchased the 512GB little M.2 from KingSpec and put it there with a little skepticism. It fits fine and my laptop recognized it right away. I did several practical tests and was happily surprised that the little KingSpec matched the speed and the performance of the Evo. Cloned the Evo to it (120GB used space) for about 15-20 minutes. Booted the laptop from the m.2 and ... quite no difference from the Evo. Opened some of my programming apps - same speed, no issues. Well, I will still be using the Evo as a primary boot drive. Wiped off the clone from the KingSpec and started using it for regular system backups. If someone wants to use it as a boot drive, why not? It's a good product and comes with a 3-year warranty. As long as your machine can boot from the m.2 slot, all should be fine. Oh, the temperature is also cool - at least on my machine no heat or overheat at all. I give it five stars, because there is nothing not to like from it so far, including the price!

Excellent Quality, Performance, and Price! Best bang for the buck.
I needed a somewhat large capacity NGFF drive for a upgrade limited Dell 3050 miniPC. There are not many 2242 NGFF M.2 SSD SATA drives out there to choose from and even fewer at 512GB capacity. This was half the cost of others I found and performance is excellent at this price point. I'm not sure the little Intel Celeron processor in the Dell 3050 miniPC would even take advantage of much faster. I highly recommend this and would definitely buy another if they are still available when/if needed. Update April 2019: I have purchase another one of these KingSpec 2242 NGFF 512GB M.2 SATA SSD drives as the first one works so well and performance is on par with other name brands I have purchased for a lot more money. I have two of these 512GB M.2 2242 SSD drives in an external M.2 sata raid enclosure and am amazed at the performance. KingSpec has definitely got me sold on their SSD products. If you are looking for a NGFF M.2 SATA drive as an upgrade or replacing a old SSD that is no longer functioning, you have got to give KingSpec a try. I am glad I found this product and anticipate purchasing more in the near future. Update June 5, 2020: Have purchased a few more of these since my April 2019 review update. I have to say that 2 of these SSD drives, in a internal dual M.2 sata drive enclosure running raid 0, on a older Gen3 i5 laptop has made me put off buying a new laptop for a couple more years. This is a laptop for working in a Win10, Office365, Internet, non-gaming environment. It keeps up with with my 8th Gen i5 Intel NUC mini PC where I really donโt see any difference! These are quality SSD drives with excellent performance. The first KingSpec 2242 NGFF 512GB SSDs I purchased still have a plenty of life in them and they are in a Dell E6430 laptop that runs 24/7. I have worked in IT for over 25 years and have gone through a lot of hardware in my days. I highly recommend these KingSpec SSD drives. Not a single issue with any of them yet while I have had SanDisk, Samsung, and G.Skill SSD drives wear out or flake out due to heat. I could not be happier, unless KingSpec wants to put these on sale for less! ๐

Works in a Lenovo Yoga 460.
Dropped in a Lenovo Yoga 469 SATA slot to pull files off a full C/SSD. Now running apps on C and files off this SATA SSD. Know the difference between SATA M.2 and NVMe that won't fit a SATA slot. Lots of returns because of this issue. Many complaints that this SSD is a terrible boot drive. Storage should be fine.

Does the job well
This was easy to install in my Geekom mini computer and was easy to initialise and format for use by Windows 11 . It seems fast enough for my requirements.

Does what it needs to do
Works well for me and it was actually a brand new disk, unlike some sellers of these smaller brands. KingSpec seems to use new chips. We'll have to see how it holds up the coming years but the start looks good. Not sure why other reviewers had issues, just delete all partitions and create a new set in Windows or macOS or Linux and format it.
