Ultimate Book of Card Games: The Comprehensive Guide to More than 350 Games

I was surprised by how beautifully presented this book is! It is a chunky hardback with colour edge painting on the pages. But, it is not just aesthetically pleasing: this book is a treasure trove of good fun! The instructions for the games are clear and well-written and I’m thoroughly enjoying learning about the wonderful world of unusual card games.

Quality book with nice artwork on the chapters. Organised in excellent chapters, good glossary and nice background info. Best card book I’ve found for many card games. Book has a super feel and finish and is lovely to pick up and use. Plus it is a match in style and size to my Bar book, the perfect pairing, cocktails and card games. Recommend.

This book is a solid gift for a budding card game fan. It covers over 350 games with clear instructions, which means you’re set for countless evenings of family-friendly fun. The hardcover feels sturdy and well-published, so it gives the impression of being more than a basic paperback. That said, I did pause at the price. There are plenty of card-game-rule-books in the same style at a lower cost, so if you’re buying for casual use it might feel slightly expensive. Since it’s a Christmas present for my daughter I haven’t used it yet, but from a quick look it appears to give good value in terms of scope and content. If you enjoy card nights and want a reference you’ll come back to, this is a fine choice. If you’re after something simpler or just a few games, you might find cheaper alternatives. Overall I’d rate it good and am looking forward to seeing her launch game nights with it.

Every card player or potential card player should have this book. Cards games are a very cheap and enlightening way to socialise.

Book was not cut properly as the majority of pages were still sealed together at the edges. Some explanations difficult to follow, made me feel a tad thick. Nice looking book though with lots of games and arranged in sections depending on how many players.

Hard cover and makes a lovely gift. Can’t commend on the contents as it’s a gift.

just what i needed. brought loads of obscure card games to the family. really recommend it. the best thing you can buy for your money. text is small though

This book is very conveniently split in to sections based on number of players which is very handy. The instructions are very clear and the accompanying diagrams makes the instructions easy to understand. The instructions give you a good feel for the games before playing, which makes it easier to avoid games you don't think you would like. We particularly enjoyed the solitaire section, as it gives you odds of succeeding with each game.

I like the way the book is divided into categories, but the 'easy' games l have tried so far have not worked and l don't feel the descriptions are complete. Hard to understand.

The set up of the various names of card games are easy to find by using the index. The writing is a little small. The card game I was looking for, was clear and easily understood.

This book may be small but it is packed with more than three hundred games to play. I bought it for my husband who loves games and playing cards. Since it's just the two of us, I thought we could find some two-player games. the book is organized by how many players there are, so we were able to easily find two-player games. My husband was amazed to learn games he had never even heard of before. We found the explanations to work well for us and we think this book is a little gem!

SELLER: Book came in perfect condition! Better than I expected for second hand, and they included a receipt. Would recommend them and would seek them out for future book purchases. PRODUCT: the book is small and detailed. Perfect size to keep with your cribbage board and cards. Great for camps, camping and emergency supplies, power outages/ hurricane etc. The book has various sections for 1-person,2-person and all the way up to six people, partner, pairs, kids, author recommendations. Each games tells you difficulty, game time length, and number of decks. Instructions are broken down to #of players, dealing, setup, game play, winning and variations. I personally love the variations part. Keep in mind some of the games you may know are an origination of another game… I love to play hand and foot but it runs out it’s a variation of Canasta.
