Fun Christmas romance novella
I have been waiting for this story since the first one appeared last year! This has the usual huge cast of characters, all of whom are well drawn, a gentle mystery (actually 2 mysteries), and a sweet romance. There is no steam in here at all, and it is not needed. If you want a cute historical Christmas romance with vivid characters, both young and older, a leisurely pace, a hopeful tone and a character oriented storyline, this is the story for you. You do not have to read the first story to enjoy this one, but it will make things much clearer. This will put you in a festive mood no matter what the season. However I plan on rereading both these in December. They remind you of the reasons we celebrate Christmas with family and friends. Enjoy!

A wonderful Christmas regency romance with great characters, mystery, and story.
Title: Lady Osbaldestone and the Missing Christmas CarolsAuthor: Stephanie LaurensRead by: Helen LloydPublisher: Blackstone AudioLength: Approximately 6 hours and 52 minutesSource: Purchased from Amazon.comLady Osbaldestone and the Missing Christmas Carols is book two of the delightful Lady Osbaldestone’s Christmas Chronicles. As readers of the blog know, I love Christmas books and I especially love regency Christmas novels. This book was perfect for me and it did not disappoint.Therese, Lady Osbaldestone, has her three young grandchildren to visit just before Christmas in her dower house in Little Mosely. They are joined by their 14-year old cousin, Melissa, for the visit. The children had a great time solving a local mystery the pervious year so Lady Osbaldestone searches for a mystery for this Christmas season. They soon find it when they discover the book of Christmas carols is missing from the local parish. Without it, there will be no Carol Service as they traditionally have each year as the handsome new organist, Richard Mortimer is an inspired organist, but can not play without sheet music. Will they find the music in time? Who exactly is Richard Mortimer and what is he hiding from?I thought this book was just as delightful as last years story. I love the cozy mystery as well as the romance that sparks between a few different characters. The romance is light like a Jane Austen novel. The narrator, Helen Lloyd, has the perfect pleasant voice with a light English accent that brings the characters and story to life. Her voice is Lady Osbaldestone to me.Overall, Lady Osbaldestone and the Missing Christmas Carols is a wonderful Christmas regency romance with great characters, mystery, and story.

Cute Christmas Story
My rating: 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 stars. This was a fun, quick read, with likable characters. It was very light-hearted, and contained a cute mystery and matchmaking. The only real problem I found was that the plot developed a bit slowly -- I think mostly because it was so light-hearted and contained so many characters.I have always enjoyed Lady Osbaldestone in all Laurens' books. She is an interesting, and quite entertaining character. I read, and enjoyed, the first Christmas story with her and her grandchildren as the main characters -- so I decided to read the rest of the series.I still like Lady Osbaldestone, and her grandchildren were adorable little imps. It was fun how she worked to find something to keep them busy, so that they wouldn't keep getting into trouble. I loved how she also encouraged her grandchildren to help with her matchmaking attempts, and they took to it immediately. It was cute how they thought of ways to encourage the couple, sometimes all on their own. I especially liked that Jamie was so good at figuring out ways to "convince" people to do what he wanted -- he was quite the little manipulator, and it made for fun reading. My rating system is below.1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Fun Holiday Adventure
Lady Osbaldestone and The Missing Christmas Carols is the second adventure but is also a stand alone story. Lady O's grandchildren return to spend time with her prior to Christmas along with an additional granddaughter who is moody. The mystery this year is the Christmas Carol book belonging to the church and without it, the annual celebration can't take place. The children launch a search and also assist in playing matchmaker to the new church organist and a young lady staying with her aunt and uncle. This is a fun, spirit lifting, adventurous story that is full of laughs. Great story.

TWO out of TWO!! WONDERFUL BOOKS--captures Season's spirit perfectly!
I just finished this beautiful book that is filled with love, the spirit of the Season, and a village that cares about each other! This is the second in a series (I hope)! What a wonderfully great feeling it gives you and leaves you feeling that it's a great world (for the most part)!I just finished it and will not read another book till after Dec. 27th because I don't want to ruin the great lift it gave me. The characters are people you really would like to know and have in your life and there is a Christmas mystery but NO villain. What a perfect book for our times! Just what we needed with the our country and the world in such a precarious position! THANK YOU so much for this "salve" to my spirits!!

Excellent story with beloved characters. You feel like you are a part of the story
I just finished the book and it came out today. It was a wonderful story. It was great to see how the characters had grown from the previous book. The writing was crisp and succinct. As a reader I felt I was part of the story. Thank you Stephanie Laurens for a wonderful read. I really enjoyed the story and I love Lady O

Pure escapism at Christmas
I’m writing this in 2019 and I can truly say I can’t wait to read number 3.It just out on pre-order for October and I’ll hoard it on my kindle until December when I allow myself to read it, a bit pathetic I know but we sometimes need something sweet to get us in the mood for Christmas and these novels help.I’m not normally a sweet and cute and everything works out all the time kind of person I also like a bit of sexual content even in the historical genre I sometimes read but this books are an escapists dream and I’m not ashamed to admit I need an escape from what’s wrong in the world today, so in December I’ll make a cup of tea get a slice of cake ( bugger the diet) and sit for hours (supplied by drinks from my hubby) and indulge in a few hours to read and finish the new story. Then it’s back to reality wondering if I’d forgotten anyone’s Christmas present.

A Brilliant Read
I absolutely love the continuity of your novels. The characters become old friends and it is so good to catch up with them. Having met Lady Osbaldestone in the Cynester novels as a grand dame it has been a pleasure to meet her as a loving caring grandmother. Love the mystery angle as it builds suspence

You really need the second volume of a C'mas adventure
Excellent read! Book 2 in the series offers a light enjoyable tale for readers of all ages. Last year I gave Lady O & the C'mas Goose to my 94 year old mother in law. She loved her copy as much as I did. She's getting the latest adventure for C'mas this year. A great read & a great gift for a reader
