I have used various sea salts and one I used in my grinder came out number 2 on a comparison taste test. This Celtic salt was the number one so I decided to try it. Unlike a lot of reviews, I did not receive a sample from a vendor wanting to test I bought this straight up. It was very good, and since I make a lot of things that require salt, I reviewed it as such. If you think salt is salt, then just go with whatever is cheap. If flavor is key this is a good salt one of the best. It's a bit of a pain to use directly since it's hydrophilic and thus attracts water, you have to keep it dry or like me dry it out. Try a comparison, either potatoes or homemade soup would be best. Shred some hashbrowns and do two small pans with measured amounts of this and some store brand. For the soup cut up some carrots celery and add low salt chicken or veggie stock. Simmer and add equal amounts of salts in separate pots. I can taste a big difference. Another test is when you do a steak put a proper amount on a steak you cut in half, and the other salt on the second half. Let steak come to room temperature sear in hot pan with a light layer of oil, cook to desired doneness. Sample each half if you have a friend who's game, have them do the cooking and not tell you which is which. I bet you pick the Celtic version. **Q: Now only available on the secondary market for a minimum of $35.99 per lb.? Why? Has gold been discovered in this celtic salt?** A: Hard to say, it's good salt I ordered in to try it out, because of a ratings video on YouTube. I got some and still use it but getting more it's scarce and I just got another one of the better salts. I'd get something that suits your needs and is not so pricey. I use a similar flaked salt that works well making bread and butter pickles to get the water out of them, and same with daikon radish to dry it out for making plant based bacon. One thing I didn't like about Celtic Sea Salt is that it's hydrophilic. It attracts water and was wet when it arrived.
