Outrageous Thai is better!
I bought both this one and T.F. Rhoden's "Outrageous Thai" in BKK last weekend at Kinokuniya at the same time, thinking I could learn a bit more colorful language. I am about a low intermediate in Thai language, and I think that both are good for just about anyone at any level. However, I was very disappointed with Becker's version of how to handle slang in the Thai language. I didn't feel like there were a lot of new words in this one and most of them were pretty tame.If you really want to learn Thai slang than I would recommend "Outrageous Thai" instead. This guy has some really crazy language in there, and what I really like is that he explains how to use it and when to use it. My gut feeling is that because the guy is a foreigner, he didn't feel like he had to hold back on the language, whereas Becker probably feels more responsible to keeping a good image of her language and country. That said, I love all of Becker's other books like "Thai for Beginners"; but honestly this on just falls short of the mark!

quirky but useful
some very useful phrases and words, and the bonus rude slang at the back is worth the purchase!... and the five stars...some choice naughty stuff...explicit, funny and colourful, very Thai.
