Fanaa (2006) - Aamir Khan - Kajol - Bollywood - Indian Cinema - Hindi Film [DVD] [NTSC]

This film is fantastic! I got it last weeks and I have watched it at least 10 times! I mainly watch favourite scenes and the songs but it has kept me entertained for more than a week! This film has such fantastic music and the story is one that is hard to forget. It stands out. The cinematography is very good whick makes the whole film beautiful. There is nothing small about this film its grand even when they are only in the humble log cabin in the wilderness. There are some good comedy moments in the first half, which is the lighter more innocent and youthful side of the story. it is a great contrast with the second half which is very serious and dramatic. this is the kind of movie that bollywood fans deserve. it is one i would happily show to non bollywood fans as an all round great film. This is the first movie I have seen with Kajol and I have become a fan for life! Every performance in this film is great and the great change in the characters from the first half to the second is remarkable, especially in Aamir Khan's character. The contrasts even in colour between the first and second half of this film shows a film maker who is extremely talented and dedicated. there is a lot poetry quoted in this movie and it is clear that everyone involved in this film from writers to set and costume designers to musicians and actors, all have an understanding of what poetry is. this is a film that could be analised in the way that people analyse poerty and literature. it has so many great contrasts in mood as the characters mature and the story changes. all the coulours,music and innocence of the first half resonates like a ghost in the wilderness of the second half. I enjoyed this film so much. It literally has everything. Action scenes and romance and dance sequences and wonderful music. The plot twists are also brilliant and i just love this film. Don't think this film dips its toes into each new adventure - it immerses itself completely in each new episode and it does it with craft and intelligence. The performances are really superb and I fell in love with both characters to be honest. The film also has authenticity and a real life of its own. It is truly unique and it is a cinematic pleasure that i won't forget in a hurry. This film has heart and it wants you to fall in love with it. I'm also addicted to the soundtrack and beautifully produced music. I love it and let yourself go and fall in love with this joyous movie. Great cinema like great food should always be sweet and sour and perhaps a little bitter but usually one is lacking or another but fanaa is a truly great dish that will have you coming back for more.

The Hindi Film "Fanaa" is marvelous from every aspect, that is story plot (intense action, suspence and love story), scenery (landscapes), excellent acting and fabulous music. I believe that this is the crown of all Bollywood films together with the also magnificent "Veer-Zaara". Not a surprising fact, since both are Yash Raj films. Highly recommended.

i was a bit sceptical of this movie, having just watched kuch kuch hota hai and ddlj etc, and wasn't sure if i could handle a sad film. But thank god i did, it's just incredible. The whole film is so beautiful, in particular the first half. Kajol and Aamir Khan are amazing in the roles, and so convincing. You must, must watch this movie, it does not disappoint. (slightly off topic, but the packaging the film comes in is also fabulous lol)

Great SFX compared to Dhoom 3 when the two Aamirs jumped off the bridge

I absolutely enjoyed this film. Watched it at least 4 times. Aimer Khan and Kajol performances were amazing. I was spellbound throughout. The attention to detail and the acting from the other cast members was truly beautiful to see. Worth every penny spend on the DVD.

I've tried to tire myself out by watching this movie over and over, but its still brilliant!! The movie is humouros, sad, shocking, thrilling and much more! Aamir Khan and Kajol have both done great in their come back roles. This movie will move you. The songs are great especailly 'Chand Sifarish' & 'mere haath mein' being personal favourites!

Amir Khan - love this guy - good story etc. Have watched this a few times. Classic and challenging.

Purtroppo è in lingua originale,ma l'ho visto con i sottotitoli in spagnolo(l'italiano,come al solito,non c'è). L'avevo visto in tv molti anni fa e l'ho cercato per molto tempo.Trovo Aamir Khan un bravo attore,qui in una parte piena di doppiezza e di dolore,ma anche con spunti dolcissimi. La sua Partner è anch'essa convincente e capace,secondo me.Termina in maniera triste,ma forse è così che deve essere.

dieser Film sollte das Comeback für Kayol sein und dieses ist es auch geworden. Ein für mich wunderschöner Film. Kayol in der ersten Filmhälfte die Blinde die ihren Prinzen sucht und dann scheinbar auch findet. Sie spielt diese Rolle zu überzeugend das man glaubt sie sein wirklich blind. Das Gefühl die Hingabe sie steckt alles in ihre Rolle und das nimmt den Zuschauer mit auf eine Achterbahn der Gefühle. Ich habe so gelitten als Aamir Khan angeblich stirbt. Sie wollen heiraten und sie kann wieder sehen. Dann zerbricht das Glück wieder. Nun zu Aamir Khan wirklich klasse wie er seine Rolle als Poet und Reiseführer beginnt und Kayols Liebe erobert. Es ihr aber immer wieder klar macht das er nicht an die Liebe glaubt und dann doch unter ihr zerbricht. Doch was hilft es wenn er in Wirklichkeit eine ganz andere Persöhnlichkeit ist. Es ist so faszinierend zu sehen wie sich die Geschichte entwickelt wie alles seinen Lauf nimmt und das Schicksal sie wieder zusammenführt. Doch nix ist wie es scheint. Ich möchte nicht zuviel von der Story verraten aber ich sage nur zum Abschluss das Ende der Showdown macht einen Seelisch fertig man weiss als Zuschauer nicht was man denken soll. Man fühlt mit Kayol mit sie möchte doch nur ihr Glück finden aber kann man das vor Gott und Indien vertreten wenn sie nur an sich denken würde? Haltet Taschentücher bereit besonders fürs Ende da geht es schlag auf Schlag. Achso die Szene als Rishi Kappor (ebenfalls großartig gespielt) der hier den Vater von Kayol (Zooni) spielt unter dem Eis schwimmt vor den Augen der Tochter haben mein Herz zum Platzen gebracht. Was für ein Gefühl von Trauer. Von mir eine klare Empfehlung zwei geniale Hauptdarsteller und eine Story die soviele Facetten zeigt das man gar nicht weggucken kann. Zur Musik muss ich sagen war ich nicht immer so sonderlich angetan wenn auch wirklich gute Songs dabei waren, aber vlt bin ich durch die vielen westlich angehauchten Songs derzeit auch bisschen vom klassichen Bollywood Musik Style abgeglitten.

Je recherchais ce produit depuis longtemps sous titré en français. J'avais vu une diffusion en deux parties à la télévision et adoré ce film. Je n'avais qu'une version en indi non soustitrée acheté directement en Inde. Merci

This is the story of a blind girl (Kajol) who visits Delhi and falls in love with a tour guide (Aamir Khan). She is pure-hearted and can love him deeply. He has never loved and regards women as 'countries to pass through, rest while and move on'. He also has a dark side she doesn't know of. However he falls for her and decides to change his life and marry her. As they await her parents for the wedding, she undergoes an operation to restore her sight then there is a bomb blast and it looks like he is killed. To say more would be to ruin the movie. I hesitated long before buying this. The reviews rated it highly but talked of 'shocking' bits - and I don't like graphic or very violent movies. If you have been in the same dilemma - there wasn't anything graphic and any shock may have been in the characters dilemmas. There is shooting (mostly off camera) but really there is very little screen time that is violent in any way -and that is more symbolic and brief. Overall it is a movie that has beautifully depicted romance between the leads and beautiful cinematography. The first half is mostly romance and the second half changes pace and builds in tension and dilemmas (but still has a lot of touching scenes and beauty as well). Both Aamir and Kajol are first rate - as is Rishi Kapoor as the girls father. This is one that both connects and tears at the heart strings. While there is sort song there isn't the big dance numbers and the music is generally haunting. A fine production and a keeper. Elsewhere on the Net it tends to get above average. I was wavering between 4 and 5 as it is probably a 4 1/2. Recommended after all (despite pre-movie hesitancy!)
