This needlepoint kit was great! My husband and boys went on a fathers and sons campout. My 6 year old daughter was very excited to have some girl time. We selected this kit and it arrived right away. She had a few days of peeking at it here and there with growing anticipation. When our night arrived she loved it! At first I was careful to show her how to do it just right. Then she enjoyed just working it on her own. The end result doesn't look exactly like the picture, but it is still lovely. She worked most of it that night and finished the rest the next morning. This kit was of superior quality. I have purchased similar kits in the past. The plastic grid was sturdy and the paint did not flake at all. There was plenty of yarn for each color. The design was simple and pleasing. Once complete, the design clicked nicely into place inside the frame. I give my highest recommendation for this product. Way to go, Alex toys!

I like this brand of starter needlepoint much better than Sew Cute brand for these reasons: Alex uses double thread so a child doesn't have to cope with trying to keep the yarn in the needle as he sews; the needle is made out of plastic so it is safe and even a little bendable if needed; the plastic board has a good feel, not so rigid as Sew Cute and more open holes. The kit has enough yarn if you skip the outermost row around the perimeter. This is covered by the frame when completed. I bought this for my 6-year old grandson because he had shown an interest in the needlepoint I was working on. He loved it and so did I; we sat together all cozy and talked about our lives while he did the stitching and I supervised. He said he liked it as much as playing games on my iPad so that's a big plus.

Thread is just enough, so no scope for mistakes or you will fall short on thread. So thats a big minus for me. And kids do make errors. So I wish they would be more generous with the length of threads provided. As a rule its good to have thread to spare than get tight to the finish. Otherwise, good product for little girls. Good design, vibrant colours. Safe plastic needle, easy enough to stitch for kids. But for the stinginess with the thread. I wold give it 5 stars. Now I have to go find blue wool to complete an otherwise well turned out piece. Kid is happy she know her mom will manage to get the needed blue wool from somewhere. Lol.

We got this for my 5 year old to try. I remember doing these as a kid and thought she'd enjoy some easy needlepoint too. She definitely needs me to sit down and help her most of the time, but she is able to work on it alone for short amounts of time when she's just doing one color. This might be easier for a kid a year or two older to do more independently. The instructions are simple, but I don't think you'd need to know anything else to complete the project. Hours of cheap fun for a detail-oriented kiddo.

I was hoping this would be just a little bit bigger. Overall, my kids enjoyed making it. But they wanted it to be bigger too. The instructions were pretty easy to follow, although we had some trouble threading the yarn. Once we figured that out though, it was pretty smooth sailing. I just wish it would have been bigger!

My daughter (8) asked for a needlepointing project after watching me work on mine and after some googling, I stumbled on this series and gave it a try. I had to walk her through threading the needle (including tricks on keeping all the loose fibers together) and stick with her for a little while as she got used to the stitch patterns but she has now completed three of these and we are starting a more complex project soon. This is a hard plastic canvas with a big plastic needle (not sharp) and some acrylic yarn that is pre-cut. It also comes with a frame of sorts that has an indent in the top so it could easily be hung on a nail. Great and easy product

This was great. A gift for my Granddaughter when she was a youngest. Now in HS. Learned well. 1st place blue ribbons on real life projects, at both country and State Fairs 2 years in a row. Hired at 15 at a sewing store. It started by these fun kids boxes.

Excellent value kit, easy enough for kids with supervision. My 5 year old kept nagging me to let her have a turn when I was doing a cross stitch so I got her this kit. She can’t quite do it by herself (needs help getting the thread started and threading the needle) but she enjoys making stitches, and we will work together on our needlework for a few minutes like Jane Austen characters, which I love. It’s building some nice fine motor skills too. If I would suggest any improvement it would be to include 2 needles instead of just one in the kit - they are easy for kids to lose.

J'aime particulièrement les tapisseries d'Alex Toys parce qu'il y a suffisamment de fils pour terminer la tapisserie contrairement à d'autres produits qui n'en fournissent pas assez. La grosse aiguille aide les petites mains à bien la tenir et trouver le trou pour le fil. Facile à faire pour un débutant. Ma petite fille de 6 ans aime beaucoup ce passe temps. C'est le deuxième que j'achète et je le recommande.
