Pros: Easy to assemble, carries about ~700 lbs. per shelving, ease to move, and sturdy. Cons: 'Sharp Metal Sides Rubber Protection' can rip easily, if not placed right. The wooden boards are great, but I'm going to signal a 'going concern' here because there's no actual lock-in material on the top or bottom of board to ensure that it's danger proof. There are concerns about what if the rack were knocked over, wouldn't the boards fall off too and that goes for the lock-in metal construction as well. The thickness of the board also gives me concerns about its ability to hold up about ~700 lbs per shelving, but I'm giving my full trust on this product because it says it can do so. Suggested Future Changes: I prefer using knuts, screws, or washers to lock the steel construction in place rather than having to hammer them down to get them to lock into place because I feel as if it there's a safety concern. Wooden boards can as well be somewhat thicker. I also prefer some kind of securing contraption to ensure that the boards don't fall off if the rack does somehow tip over. Overall, these are just a few safety improvements, but other than that, this is a great rack. Ratings Review: Overall, I give it a 5 because its exactly what I wanted. *Notes: You're going to need a 'Rubber Mallet' to assemble this.

Pros *Solid construction *Relatively easy to put together. *Lots of storage room. *Seems like it will last a while. Con *Uses thin, flimsy particle board for the shelves. A unit at this price should have plywood. Granted, the one con can easily be fixed yourself. But if you are going to pay top dollar for a shelving unit that consists of five sheets of thin wood and several pieces of thin steel, that wood should be something more substantial than particle board. However, this is a good shelving unit, and worth a purchase. The one gripe that I have can easily be fixed with two sheets of plywood, a measuring tape and a circular saw.

Fairly easy to assemble, but not as sturdy as we wanted. We have made it work. Would buy for lighter products to put on shelves.

Gorilla Rack GRZ6-3618-5BIMP 5-Shelf 36-by-18-by-72-Inch Shelving Unit, Black i am actually shocked that these shelves work so well. i couldn't afford what i thought i wanted. i ordered 3 sets of shelves, set 2 up as 72" units and one as a 36" high side-by-side. they are strong and sturdy and have an ingenious way of fitting together, with no bolts. it was a little tricky figuring it out, but it works very well and is stable. i'm very happy with the shelves and will order a few more as soon as my budget allows.

This is the third Gorilla rack system I have purchased. The first two were very solid pieces of gear. This one is solid but not nearly like the others. That the shelf boards are covered is nice. My main problem is that it arrived missing many parts. I contacted the company, waited a couple days and did not get a call back. Called again and got a human who was very nice. Told her the issue of the missing parts and gave my information. It's been a couple weeks and I haven't seen the parts to complete the purchase. The day after I talked with the nice lady, I did get a phone message from the company relating to my first call. In short, it's a fairly solid item. If there is any disappointment, it is because I have some previous one's, bought at Sam's Club, that are much more sturdy for the same price, and that the system did not arrive complete. I do not know if that was a problem with the folks at Gorilla Rack or with the company who delivered or warehoused the item. I still don't have a complete purchase. Be aware when ordering this item. The item was received in a box that appeared to have been opened previously and then re-taped and shipped. My first clue that something might be wrong was when I opened the box and started removing the contents, I discovered there were no assembly instructions included. After several attempts at the seller's web site, I found the instructions. I then started to assemble the unit. When I had it half assembled I discovered I was missing several pieces needed to complete the assembly. Namely: one of slotted vertical pieces; two of the short shelf supports and one of the long shelf supports. With the pieces available I was able to assemble a 3 shelf unit instead of the 5 that was advertised. Needless to say I will not buy from this seller again unless the missing items are shipped to me. It is too heavy and bulky for me to try to return it.

I really love these units. I have 2 of them set up as half shelves in my studio. their sturdy, easy to assemble, you can replace the wood once you ruin it by using it as a work top. I have used these in various studios for years, you would be hard pressed to break one. I use the two with only two shelves as a soldering and fabrication station, and those with 3 as a storage, stock holding, and I have a big buffing machine on one. I will always buy more when I need to expand my space. don't waste your money on cheap knockoffs, these buddys won't let you down

I have tons of Gorilla shelves. They are the 4 foot long shelves that could take a serious beating. I'm counting on them saving me during an earthquake, by honeycombing my office with them. I recently purchased this set of shelves was disappointing. The particle board is thin. The braces feel like they could practically be bend with your bare hands. I didn't have my lower shelf braces in (between the base and the middle). I wanted to put a set of drawers down there. This worked fine with my 4' shelves. With these it practically twisted and fell over. It was super wobbly. I put the brace in down below and it got much more stable, but still is questionable. If you are looking for heavy duty gorilla shelf quality, it's not in these shelves.
