You get what you pay for. This bike helmet is very cheap. My husband mountain bikes. He cant find his helmet, so we thought we would try this one. The first sentence out of my husbands mouth on seeing this bike helmet was “l’m going to die.” That’s a slight over exaggeration, but I would only recommend this helmet to someone who is going to ride a bike around a neighborhood, not anyone who might fall and get seriously injured like mountain biking or skateboarding. I gave it two stars because really what can you expect for $15 so people should know going in this is not an expensive helmet. However the company made claims on who should use this that I think over exaggerated the safety of this helmet so I want people to be aware they might want to invest in a more expensive helmet. It fits ok and feels ok, but not as comfortable as our better helmets.

I fell riding my bicycle years ago and, despite my attempting to "tuck and roll" so I would take the hit on my arm and shoulder, my head hit the pavement hard enough to knock sense into me to always wear a good helmet. I ride three to five times a week so a good helmet is important. This Vine (i.e., evaluation) product appealed because of the claimed light weight and good ventilation. If you ride in warm conditions, a helmet that provide cooling holes without comprising safety is a really important. Here are my thoughts:First, despite being advertised as "my size" - it's a touch tight and uncomfortable. I say, pick a size that's a little bigger that you are currently wearing.Next, The construction seems a touch crude (but not flimsy) - a serious rider may not like that aspect of this product, especially if you ride in a group of bike-crazy folks. (Peer group pressure?) Another thing, there's no provision for attaching a light - important for rides in poor light. Finally, there is no sticker inside that it has passed an independent safety test. Here is a quote from an article in Bicycling Magazine that yo umay find helpful - "A group from Virginia Tech, in conjunction with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has created a new way of testing helmets for safety performance. While the CPSC label states whether a helmet has met a minimum level of protection, this group aims to quantify the actual performance of helmets. “The helmet ratings are important because right now, there’s no available information to consumers when purchasing helmets,” Steve Rowson, director of the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab, said in a press release. “There are differences in performance, and some helmets better reduce risk than others.” Without a CPSC label you really can't tell if the helmet is a quality product. I checked the list of tested helmets and this one is not on it. Of course, wearing this helmet is better than no helmet but doing research for a superior helmet may save you from serious head injury in the event of a crash.

It has some great ratings, since I shopped around before choosing this one for my oldest daughter. It allows your head to breath due to a good ventilation system in the helmet.I give this a five-star rating and can easily recommend it to those who are shopping for a bike helmet. This is just too thin in my opinion and I wouldn't want to be responsible for recommending this one and someone get hurt based on my recommendation. As soon as it arrived I noticed how much thinner it was compared to the other helmets I have here so we decided to sacrifice it for a test just to see how durable it was because looks CAN be deceiving and the very first crack he took it at with a brick it split the top of the shell in half. We took our sturdiest one and did the same thing and the brick bounced off with no effect on the helmet.
