I used to buy the highest quality Merv filters until my HVAC guy said they make your system work harder and wear out faster because they’re to dense for good airflow. he recommended not going above an 8. Last year we upgraded our entire HVAC system and change our filter every 6 to 8 weeks the insulation team recommended MERV 5 or 8 annd nothing above an 8. He said it better go lower and change more often. Our neighbor had a fire and we suffered smoke damage.
