Propellerhead Reason 8 (Music Recording & Production Studio)

Great software, but beware that the box and the cd does not contain 64 bit version. I had to go to the Propellerhead software and download the software anyway. If 64 bit is important to you, then don't waste time getting this box. The only additional thing you get by buying the box is a manual in the form of a book and the license number. The cd is useless since the software I needed is on their website.

There was a problem with the comparability of the software purchased with the operating system of my computer. Seems the software Reason 8 is only compatible with x64 bit operating systems. There was no warning on the software packaging system requirements or the product information page on the Amazon website. There only appeared an error message when I tried to install the Reason 8 software suite on my computer. Had I have known of the compatibility issue I wouldn't have bought the damned software. I feel totally ripped off. $400 totally blown, I want my money back.

Okay, but I've been using it over a month and am not sure if all the features are working yet??????????? Some of the screen controls are unintuitive compared to my old DAW (cakewalk) so it took awhile to get used to (nothing new, I guess). Also, I'm not sure if there are drum clips for use or if I have to learn the drum machine from scratch, now. Also, I don't know how to convert mono tracks to stereo or get panning effects (ie: panning a clip from Left to Right as it plays). I guess I'll have to read the manual some more....On the plus side, midi notes are easily adjusted for volume with a pencil tool. (Very convenient). Tracks are easily exported as finished products. There is also an album mastering document that I've just discovered. I think it will make album production faster and less painful...We'll see!!!

Great program! I have only maybe explored 1/20th of what this can do- and as a drummer I am loving this. Got a nice little midi - making base lines- adding layers to loops, it's great... Reason also shoots you emails where you can help other folks with tracks of their own- over all super satisfied with this quality of software.

Good: Nice DAW for EDM, R&B, Pop, and Neo Soul recording. For pre mastering, I would use another high end DAW such as Studio One 3..... but over all, Reason is pretty good. Bad: NO VST SUPPORT FOR OTHER PLUG-INS.... !!!!

It was easy to install, factory sound banks are pretty good, mixer is awesome a little overwhelming but packs a lot of tools. Cons are proprietary.

A+! Still figuring all of the MANY features the Reason has, but as far as stock sounds go, this is unrivaled! After you've messed around with this for even just a few hours, it is so easy to make good sounding music.
