BAZIC #2B Premium Wood Pencil, Blue, 12 Per Pack (760-24P)

I started looking for 2B pencils awhile ago after my son's school puts him on this year' roster to take a standardized test. 2B pencils, of course, are much better than the regular HB variety in filling out the bubble sheets. It came as a surprise to me that neither the local Walmart nor Staples carried any. I finally had to order it from Amazon. This package of a dozen 2B pencils is reasonably priced and of decent quality. There is no eraser head at the top end, but I prefer separate pieces of white erasers anyway. It writes darker and smoother than HB, and still holds the sharp tip reasonably well. Therefore, it can substitute regular HB pencils on pretty much all occasions. It is too bad that it has become so hard to find and therefore relatively expensive. There have to be people out there like me who prefer the feel of a 2B over HB. This seems another example of an under-served niche market.

Finally a real #2B lead pencil that means what it says. #2B should be soft enough lead that's smooth to write with, dark enough to read and doesn't smear like charcoal. I've tried dozens of 2B pencils but this is the best one ever! I ordered a box, received it and followed up immediately with an order for 2 more boxes. Since it doesn't come with an attached erasure, I ordered a bag of pop-on erasures from Amazon (more in the bag than I'll use in a lifetime) but the combo works beautifully. Hoping that the BAZIC never changes their formula - can't find better anywhere.

I like the way it writes. Its not hard like some pencils, but it does the job well. Sometimes the lead will break when sharpening but pretty sure thats the same for most pencils. Overall, good pencil for the value.

Worth the price, their are solid for writing and doodles on the side.

They work great for what I need them for- sketching.

I home-school my children, and I found it so much easier for younger children to use 2B pencils than standard HB's. Due to the softer lead, we go through them fast, but it's worth it. It is difficult to find 2B pencils for some reason. When I find them in the art store, the price can be really up there. So when I found this item on Amazon, I jumped on it. Nothing spectacular, but what I expected from 2B pencils, and the priced reasonably.

It is getting harder and harder to find 2B Pencils. I think most parents aren't even aware there are alternatives to the common pencils. These write much smoother than the classic HB pencils that has a hard tip and has a very pale color tone. I was raised having many different softness levels of pencils and try to evangelize fellow parents as well. These Pencils will most definitely have a positive impact on your child's handwriting. They are also a must for any standardized test that you have to fill the circles. Of course my only gripe is the price. I wish they were bit cheaper but worth every penny....

These pencils are the best. My son has fine motor issues and the regular #2 pencils are difficult for him in that he finds he has to press harder to write well/ dark enough. The Bazic #2B Pencils have a softer lead and are much better...he does not have to make such a great effort to write "dark enough" for his teachers to be able to read what he writes. They are much more expensive ($9) per dozen than the well known brand "Ticonderoga" ($3) and they do not have erasers, however I find it's worth the $.
