Smaller than expected
(review written by Nick's wife) I came across these memory books in a parenting magazine and loved the idea of having my children's grandparents fill them out. I even bought some for my grandparents to fill out for me.After searching through everything Amazon has to offer, I ended up purchasing a variety of books. I bought Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, Tell Me Your Memories. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I really didn't think they would all be the same with a different cover page as they are. I was really disappointed in the size of the books. They are 4" x 5.5" with a 1" spiral binding. Each is about 1" thick. It is laid out for a full calendar year - each day having a different question or memory for the person do write about. The pages have a question at the top and are blank (no lines) below. The other books I decided to purchase are: A Grandparent's Legacy and Memories for My Grandchild. A Grandparent's Legacy is laid out month-by-month with topics to discuss. The book measures 8" x 5" with a nice covered spiral binding and is about .75" thick. Each page has topics to discuss and lines for writing. Memories for My Grandchild has the most flexible layout - meaning there is no guide for filling things out at a certain time. It is also the largest book, measuring about 8" x 10" and just less than 1" thick. It has a covered spiral binding. This is the only book with a pocket in the back to drop in any special items and a pull-out page to fill in the family tree. The pages in this book are lined as well. The books all cover similar questions and memories. I haven't gone page-by-page to compare, but have been pleased with what I've seen so far. Since the books are so similar, I'm basing my overall opinion on the appearance. My favorite would have to be A Grandparent's Legacy.

A Wonderful Treasure!!
It's never too early to start writing in a book like this! This is a great book, but I think some of the pages could be updated with more current history questions. May father had been writing experiences in this book of questions for the past 17 years before passing away this year. He only wrote a little at a time because with MS, the dexterity in his fingers was a challenge so it was hard for him to write. It is a treasure though to have his hand writing and his experiences down on paper. This book is small and manageable and you don't have to think of what questions to ask someone during a life history interview of some kind. I have purchased these for my in-laws who I adore and for my husband and I to share our lives more with our children and grandchildren. When it is filled out....it is a treasure!

Great book
I disagree with the naysayers here about the size of this book. Yes, it is a small book. But what I found wonderful about it is it is approximately a page-a-day book.... How wonderful would it be to give it at Christmas one year and have it returned completed to the giver the next year? Any responses that require additional response could always be written separately. I think for the 70+ year olds that could be completing this book, the size is appropriate and not daunting. I began this book with my dad... interview-style. I wrote in the book. We only got through a few questions the first day but his answers astounded me. It really prompted some intersting discussion which I also recorded. Unfortunately, he died the very next day. It was a great concept. I encourage a lot of people to buy these books. And as far as questions they don't want to answer - they don't have to. In my mom's book, there was a question about: Describe a time when you were naughty. Her response: "I don't want to." Classic Mom. I chuckle every time I read that.

Great book to preserve memories
My grandmother passed away recently and I had ordered a book like this for her a few years back. She had a stroke shortly after and the book was never completed. I feel like a lot of her memories died with her. I want to prevent that from happening again and ordered my parents books, as well as books for my husband and I, so we could complete them for our children. The books for Dad, Mother, Grandpa and Grandma are all the same questions so if you are trying to decide which one to get, keep that in mind. I will order these again for other relatives and would recommend other's to do the same. It's simple and easy to fill out, there is a question for everyday of the year and it's small enough to not take up a lot of space.

Events from your Past
This book, and it mate,Β Mom, Share Your Life With Me , are a neat way to create an abbreviated fun biography of your life for your children, or even more usefully, for your grandchildren. In this modern world family members tend to be spread out, frequently living very long distances apart. The occasional get together doesn't allow much time for one on one sharing of experiences, particularly fond memories from childhood and teenage years. Each page has a brief prompt to stir your memory, and a space to write down the fun things you did in the past. My wife and I found that spending time together writing in the two books was fun, and it got us discussing and sharing previously unknown events and feelings from our years before we met.

It is what it is.
The cover is different then the one in the stock images that I thought I was getting. In general I really like this and the format of one question a day; some of the questions are rather specific but I look forward to getting it back filled out someday. It does seem a little over priced for what it is.

Book details are wrong!
I'm disappointed as I bought this specifically to match another one I had, and I relied on the book details to get it right. This book is only 48 pages, not 366 as stated. And it measures approx. 8" x 9", not the approx. 4" x 6" as started.

Great For Connecting With Parent Who Lives Out of State
My grown daughter purchased this book (along with a custom-made pen from Etzy) as a Christmas gift for her father, who lives in another state. He was thrilled with it & plans to send her the original book back to her as soon as he has finished filling it out. He also reports that he will make copies of the entire book for himself & her sister. In this way, his life's story won't be lost to his children because of his divorce. We were surprised by his enthusiasm because he doesn't have much time or inclination for writing -- the book is nonthreatening & fun to use.

He had really enjoyed completing it and I learnt so much more about ...
Sometime later my father gave me back this book. He had really enjoyed completing it and I learnt so much more about him and his life. I would highly recommend this for your parents if you want to learn more about them. The day by day pages really helped my Dad to think about areas of his childhood which he had previously forgot.

A beautiful way to keep memories
A really good way of starting conversations with a loved one. You can keep their memories with you forever and hand down to your children about their grandparents. It has a question about a memory for each day of the year. If you live in Britain, is has some Americanisms, such as asking about frat parties etc. But you can easily edit these for your own use.

Best small book I have ever bought.
The best way to jog your memory. It will take me years to complete.

Smaller than anticipated
This is a great idea which I love. The book is different from what I expected but still will do the same job.

Great Idea!
I gave this book to my Dad on Father's Day last year. He has had a very interesting life, and promised to write every time he has a memory. He is quite the joker, and has a lot of funny things that I will enjoy reading about after he leaves this earth. He is 84 and is in excellent mind and health, so hope that won't be for a while. Thank you so much for making it available!!
