EXCELLENT book for advanced students of the Spanish language!
I LOVED this book! I have known how to conjugate Spanish subjunctive for decades but was never sure when to use it. This book cleared that up really well!I do have to disagree that it is for intermediate students though. A person really should have a good grasp of all the main tenses used in Spanish before attempting to use this book (present tense, preterite, imperfect, future, conditional, and all the compound tenses that go with these -- haber + ... ), otherwise it will be difficult to absorb the material. The book is presented with academic language, so understanding grammar in English will help a lot with understanding the book's material. This academic presentation made it much easier for me.The exercises at the end of each chapter are extremely helpful, not only for making sure you learned the chapter's material, but also for learning even more. I learned a lot from the exercises themselves!I live in Latin America in a town where, for all practical purposes, nobody speaks English. I have to speak Spanish all day long to get anything done. After working through this book, I feel much more confident about when and how to use subjunctive. I still am unsure every now and then, but it is a lot less often!I ordered this book from Amazon and had it shipped to South America via a third party. It was worth every penny! Thank you Eric Vogt!

Best subjunctive book ever
I’ve been teaching Spanish for 50 years and I love this book. First and second year Spanish class often does not cover subjunctive mode at all, but it’s used in like every ninth or 10th sentence in real life conversation. Anything involving emotions, asking people to do things, and things that might happen or haven’t happened yet. After the chapters outlining each usage of the four tenses of subjunctive mode, there are a bunch of really good exercises at the end that mix it up, and with explanations at the back as to why one might have to use subjunctive mode, and which of the four tenses to use….. or NOT. Perfect.

Excellent self-study guide for the subjunctive!! Five stars for sure!
What I like about this book is that it is not so crammed pack with info that you find yourself discouraged trying to get through it. Rather, it succinctly explains the subjunctive in clear terms where you understand when to use it and how to use. I had already known that the subjunctive should be used when expressing doubt or uncertainty, but this book does a great job of clarifying all of the conditions beyond just "doubt and uncertainty" so I could build upon what I already knew about the subjunctive and gain a greater mastery over the topic. I also gained great insight from reading the chapter on which tenses to use of the subjunctive: present, imperfect, present perfect, and pluperfect. I already knew how to conjugate the four subjunctive tenses, but with this book, I really understood when to map the subjunctive tenses with the main clauses better than before. At the end of each chapter, there are exercises to reinforce your understanding of the chapter's lessons, but that isn't anything unique. What I did appreciate immensely, though, was that that the answer key at the back of the book went beyond simply listing the answer and actually explained why the answer listed is the correct answer. I found this to be invaluable when it comes to self-study. Sometimes it's not enough to simply see the answer, but to understand why that answer is "more correct" than what I had thought would have been the answer. Just to give some context to my review: I bought this book back in 2011 and still reference it from time to time. The fact that I do that finally got me to thinking that I should give this book the glowing review that it deserves after all of these years.

INFORMATION OVERLOAD CHAPTER ONE
wow I have been studying spanish for 5 years as a speaker. I am learning to speak spanish, I have purchased and used many on line courses, and consider myself an intermediate speaker in south Florida. I thought this book would help me but by the end of chapter one i was so overwhelmed I quit. This book made me dizzy, and was way way grammatical rather than useful...so I returned it. I have studied subjunctive in three courses, and got so confused with this overwhelming grammar that I gave up,Returned book after first chapter. Does this guy know how to speak Spanish as a speaker??? Very disappointed. Was excited, but ballon got deflated by the end of chapter. Holey Moley.Another issue, though not the authors: This is the second Kindle spanish text I have purchased. Unlike a novel, one should be able to print out the exercises, If One can read the small small microscopic print), so as to be able to use as a didactic exercise. The other text I used, I spent so much time doing the exercises, that unless I was at my computer or I phone, I could hardly read the print of the exercises.Textbooks ought to be able to print.

Useless
Starts with a very basic explanation of each type, without many examples. I would not recommend this book for anyone starting to learn the subjunctive. There are much better options out there. Even by searching online you can easily find better options for free.

Excellent book on a complex subject
"John couldn't believe that his girlfriend had cheated on him"No disrespect to previous reviewers but the use of these Spanish tenses is complicated. In our own language we have coulds, shoulds and maybe's and a multitude of other complexities, such that most of us never think about the correct terminology, even if we covered it in school. However, if we learn another language to the level where we need to know the sunjunctives, then yes, the subject will be complicated and heavy going if grammar jargon isn't your thing. This book is about as good as it gets though, with plenty of examples and exercises.I concur whole-heartedly with what Brandon has already said and for the money it costs, you can't go wrong.

かなりの練習になります
スペイン語のレベルアップに必須なsubjuntivo対策にかなり使えます。全部英語での説明になりますが、subjuntivoの使い方と練習問題が繰り返し出てきて、回答(少し解説)も付いているので、独学には良いです。最後の方の応用問題は苦戦しますが、かなりの練習になると思います。

Lightens the Load of the Subjunctive!
This series of books provides excellent exercises and instruction for self-teaching. Since the subjunctive is especially tricky, I especially appreciate this book .
