We are looking to fill a gap of 7 inches between 2 twin beds. Would this strap work or is the gap too wide?** A: A 7 inch gap will be far too wide for the average bed bridge to work properly. Usually a bed bridge is used where the mattresses can be pushed together or there is a minimal gap. This bed bridge can work on either with additional support added but a 7 inch gap would require a piece of foam custom cut from a foam outlet (these can be found in industrial areas). Take some accurate measurements and allow some excess to allow for the compression of the foam. I would suggest a harder foam then soften the top with a mattress topper or bed bridge. Every bed situation is unique and no one solution can cover them all. If you think the bed base below your 7 inch gap can support a specially cut harder foam and that you can find a way of softening over the difference between your own mattresses and the foam then this is what we suggest. **Q: Does this strap go around the exterior of the beds? Could it be used for a split king aka two twins that adjust on their own frames?** A: One of the straps does go all the way around the beds, this strap can alternatively be used to go directly between the two steel locks under the bed to pull them together. This is not ideal and our design is not made for a mechanized split king bed. Although this alternative would hold the mattresses together it may compromise the effectiveness of the topper without additional supports. The strap that goes around the sides of the mattresses is 8.4m which is long enough for 2 of any single size mattresses.
