For normal automotive paint inspection, calibration is not required. Factory calibrated and ready after installing batteries. Zero and multi-point calibration are optional for high-precision industrial coating control. Reset restores defaults.

What is the measuring range and resolution?

CM-205FN measures from 0–1500 μm (0–59.1 mils) with 0.1 μm (0.01 mils) resolution. This range covers factory paint, repainting layers, and thicker coatings, helping detect repairs and uneven paint thickness.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. CM-205FN operates from –25 °C to +50 °C (–13 °F to +131 °F), suitable for garages and outdoor checks. Temperature compensation helps stable readings during changes. Keep the probe and surface clean for best accuracy.

Can this gauge measure plastic or carbon fiber parts?

No. CM-205FN works only on metal substrates (Fe and NFe). It is not suitable for plastic bumpers, carbon fiber, or composite parts, because magnetic/eddy current coating thickness measurement requires a metal base.

Does it work on aluminum car panels?

Yes. CM-205FN automatically detects Fe and NFe substrates and measures coating thickness on steel/iron and aluminum parts. This makes it ideal for modern cars with mixed body materials and fast inspections.
