17.6-Ounce Staple Floating Pellets for Koi and Pond Fish, Medium

Hikari brand koi food was recommended to me by several koi fish sellers. For colder water in the spring and fall, they recommended the wheat germ pellets. The fish seemed fine and healthy. As the weather warms toward summer, they told me to begin feeding the Staple type: a pellet that has more protein (has some fish meal) as opposed to the "vegan" wheat germ with no animal protein. So far, the fish continue to be healthy with no problems. In fact, the fish are growing. I bought the fish at a 6" size, and within a few months most of them put on at least a few inches. As the water warms, the fish metabolism increases and they seem to consume more food. I still only feed them sparingly. Overfeeding with any food will increase fish waste and put pressure on the filter system. The pellets float and don't readily sink. Which is good: it doesn't clog the filter intake. Now, I'm no expert on koi, and Hikari isn't an inexpensive food, but even relatively small koi can be expensive, so paying for a more premium food seems like a good investment.

The fish seem to love it, so guess it’s great stuff. Maybe I should try it like cereal? :-)

Package delivered was exactly what was shown. Floating pellets were exactly what we were looking for to feed the koi in our pond, and they loved them. The price is much better than going to the pet store and buying these same floating pellets. They're great, so we keep ordering these as we need them.

My kois have been healthy. They seem to like this - just as eager to eat as any others. I do rotate between different foods. So I can't say if this is any better (or worse). I trust that Hikari is a good brand though. They have been around for many years.

I bought this more expensive Koi food because of the reasons given by those who have tried lots of different brands and say this is the best. For me, the fish love it and it stays floating until they eat it all so it doesn't foul the pond. Highly recommend.

I have really large goldfish, and they love this food. Zero complaints!

This is the first time using this food for my fish and turtles (I rotate their food so they don't get bored) and they all seem to love it. The size of the pellets are nice since they aren't too big unlike other brands. It also doesn't make the water cloudy which is nice.

This is my koi’s favorite food. I tried switching to other brands before, but they didn’t like them, so I switched back to this one.

Excellent produit. Mes bébés Koi aiment beaucoup cette nourriture. J’utilisais le format PETIT et j’ai commencé à inclure le format MOYEN à leur ration, depuis que les Koi ont grandi. Je joins une photo qui démontre bien la différence de grosseur de la nourriture entre les deux formats. C’est une grosse différence, plus que je croyais. Très satisfaite de mon achat.
