A family favorite with simple to read sentences. Teaches about a different culture simply and beautifully.

I work with elementary children who are new to the U.S. I have a young boy from The Republic of Congo. He loves this book because of the beautiful illustrations. It was so exciting to see his face light up when he first saw the book. It was like watching him travel back to his homeland as he turned through the pages. I'm grateful for the thoughtful way this book was put together.

A wonderful introduction to the English speaker of some of the foundational words of Swahili. The inspirational illustrations can't help but draw one into their celebration of details of African culture that seem exotic to the Western reader.

Beautiful book - inside and outside. Incredible pictures and presentation of folks from home. The pictures are so real and close - yet they stand uniquely on their own. Much gratitude the Feelings for their work.

Gorgeous book. Having spent three weeks in East Africa last year and anticipating grandchildren I bought this book. The text and illustrations are simple but not simplistic. I have no African heritage but always wanted to visit and finally got there. East Africa is very like my country's Outback. Almost familiar territory but no emus and many giraffe.

Our Organization, Young Performing Artists (YPAs), Inc., offers youth enrichment programs featuring history, culture and heritage using 'the arts' to enhance the learning experience. This book will complete our 'story time' hour. We ordered; it was shipped and we're pleased.

My best friend is tutoring two girls from different areas of Africa, but their common language is Swahili. I got her this book to learn a little of the language to show them how much she values their language. When I met them and said, "Jamba!" , they were delighted!! I used it in my sixth grade classrooms, but my littlest grandchildren are charmed.

I love this book the day I frist saw it when I was a kid. I seen it on reading rainbow for the first time and fell in love with it. Then I final got it as gift I love that I could learn some words in different language so I decided to buy a copy of this book for my neice so when she grows up she will know some Swahili to
