Tales of Norse Mythology

Elegant binding and attractive look. The content is as described. The book was published in 1908; hence, the language is rather classy which I liked a lot.

Everything about the book is just amazing be it content, storyline the look. You just get out of the world feeling while reading it.

Don’t expect much from the illustrations. They depict “vikings” with horned helmets, reminiscent of costumes from an old opera. The stories are wonderfully nonsensical, making for a very interesting read, and the book looks incredible on the shelf. P.S. In one of the early stories, Odin has a golden statue made by some dwarves. His wife, Frigg, desires new jewelry but lacks gold. She asks the dwarves to break off a piece of the statue, steal it for her, and turn it into a new piece of jewelry. When Odin discovers the statue’s defacement, he is furious, but no one reveals the culprit. He decides to bring the statue to life to question it directly. However, before he can do so, Frigg has a dwarf destroy the statue (as payment, she smiles at him). This enrages Odin so much that he abandons the realm, causing all his protections to vanish with him. Consequently, the giants invade Earth. Odin is absent for about nine months. At one point, his twin pretends to be him. Eventually, Odin returns, and everyone acts as if nothing happened. Odin never discovers who stole the gold or destroyed his statue, and Frigg gets away with it.

100% recomendable para personas que les gusta la mitología nórdica e historias de vikingos, contiene una especie de relatos de como nacieron, vivieron, etc varios dioses nórdicos, el libro viene en inglés, esta ilustrado, tiene pasta dura de piel y los detalles brillan, esta muy chingon.

Barnes and Noble never disappoints, this book is just gorgeous
