We bought the smaller bottle size as handy to carry - but as we carry a water bottle in the car as well it's easy to top up if necessary. Our little terrier loves it. Saves waste too as any water that she leaves can simply be drained back into the bottle.What I particularly liked was the training "clicker" that was included with the bottle. We didn't know this was coming and, as it happens, we were thinking of buying such a training aid. A bit like the complimentary brandy that a restaurant (particularly abroad) will give you at the end of a meal to say thanks, this little free gift was much appreciated. I have an almost 1 year old Frenchie and a small chihuahua so I would say if you have a larger dog then perhaps the bigger size is better. Seems to be leak proof, easy to use by simply pushing the button to release water and then any left over water can be put back into the bottle by pressing the button again. A handy little bottle for trips pit.
