System Diagnostics and Troubleshooting Procedures

It is a good book, does not cost too much, but does not cover everything well.
I think that this was written to be sort of a very very short primer on many subjects. The answers are very short, and usually bring up more questions after you read them. It is easy to use, and it does have a good number of excellent photos too. The author does offer some good ideas on step by step elimination of this or that, but like most books..... it has large gaps here and there. It is a good book, but it will not be your single answerbook in most problem cases. One problem with all books of this nature is that they do spend a lot of time on things that, "Simply anyone would find that on their own." It is the more obscure things that leave us stumped from time to time and that we need a book like this one to use in troubleshooting the problems. I guess that it is a lot like one of those pocket dictionaries you can buy.... lots of words, but most are the common words that you need no help with..... does that explain my idea better? You will get some benefit from this book: The book is compact and spiral bound for ease of use, and the author has many good insights in it so I gave it 4 stars for that and the reasonable price. Enjoy

Really good book. It read like it was part of a larger course but didn't mention how to go about getting the rest. And for what I paid for it I think it should have been more

This book.....
I bought this book in order to pass a HVAC excellence exam but it did its job. However, 30 dollars is too much for this book. Besides, you can find this book within ANOTHER BOOK aka Troubleshooting and Servicing Modern Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems. So if you're gonna get this book or any of the others "solo" books by Tomczyk (Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures etc)..get TSMACRS. Shame on ESCO. But for the content..it's not bad.

Invaluable resource
As a new to the field tech, this is an invaluable resource. It will give you a solid foundation in what the system (pressures, temperatures, and amp draws) should be and will tell what to look at if they are not. I highly recommend this manual.
