"Uncle Sam" the world's longest sled
This book was written about a sled which was made and used during the winter in New Hampshire from the late 1800's until the age of motor cars, or about 1920. The sled was huge and very long; it was made in three sections which could uncouple if need be to avert danger. It could seat 70+ people, weighs 1500 lbs. and was usually used at night under the moonlight. It is currently stored in a barn in Farmington, NH and was recently brought out this Fall to celebrate a local Farm Museum. I have a framed newspaper article and picture of the sled packed with men. The sled was called "Uncle Sam". The author of this book wrote this children's book as a tribute to the sled. It is a cute book and I purchased it to go along with the newspaper article I have and the picture which is framed. Pat Caron, Dover, NH

but definitely a good wintertime read for the Pre-k or Kindergarten set
Very cute story of neighborhood adventures. Was a little advanced for my 3 year old, but definitely a good wintertime read for the Pre-k or Kindergarten set.

Takes me back to my childhood!
This book is great and reminds me of my childhood. We were always sledding! Rebecca Rule is always fun to read and the illustrations are wonderful. This book is great for young and old - especially those of us here in "New Hampsha."

Fun book
Fun and exciting book for my first grade classroom. They loved it and so did I. We were thrilled to have a book from a New Hampshire author.
