4.5 stars: The foam opening is soft, flexible, and refreshingly free of the “cold plastic, sharp, hospital torture device” vibe. The opening is large enough to use comfortably, and the reservoir keeps draining while it's being filled, instead of creating unnecessary suspense. We’ve been using this urinal system daily for about 18 months, and I’m only now ordering a replacement, which honestly says a lot. At this point this thing has probably worked more night shifts than most interns. For comfort, durability, and practicality, it’s been the best portable male urinal setup we’ve found. And we've tried so many. Now my husband can relax and use it confidently, and I don’t have to wake up at 2 AM because the urinal suddenly decided it was overwhelmed by its career choice. Honestly, me getting to stay asleep may be this product’s most impressive feature. It’s sturdy, easy to hold, survives drops and daily abuse, and is reasonably easy to clean. Considering its entire purpose in life revolves around handling pee, it performs admirably. Now for the annoying part: 1-star: the included collection bag system. The original bag really isn’t made for long-term use and usually starts wearing out within a few weeks. Worse, the fancy luer lock connection means standard replacement urine bags won’t connect directly, and their branded replacement bags are ridiculously overpriced. Paying $55 for three bags felt less like medical shopping and more like joining some weird luxury pee subscription service. **Thankfully, there’s an easy workaround. I cut about 3 inches of tubing off the original bag *see pic* and leave that tubing attached to the urinal connector. Now, I can insert any tree-style connector from pretty much any standard replacement bag, directly into that cut tube, No adapter needed. Just push it in firmly so it’s fully seated. Spending ten extra seconds checking that connection, beats discovering a leak later while half awake and deeply regretting your life choices. This new setup lets me use whatever drain bag style I want, including leg bags for car rides. For longer trips, get disposable travel pee bags, they're fantastic. Empty the urinal into one, seal it up, toss it later. No mysterious “why does the car smell like a roadside rest stop?” situation afterward. One thing I will say: even though the device itself holds up really well, I’d still replace the whole unit every 12-18 months or so. The foam opening gradually gets harder to fully sanitize over time. Honestly though, for the comfort it gives my husband every single day, replacing it periodically is completely worth it.

I bought the Comfort Fit Male Urinal here on Amazon from Advantage Urinal Systems at the end of June and as of now I have received 2 more and this company is solid to deal with. If ever there was any issue it was resolved. Larry sends you an email immediately the first time you order and checks on the satisfaction of delivery and of the device and continually checks based on your order frequency. Amy is excellent to talk to in customer service and sales and ensures that you are able ask any question and answers with expertise. This company is on the cutting edge of Urinal systems. I needed this originally to replace a Standard 1,000 ml standard close top urinal we had just purchased for more than a third of the price that did half the job and caused overflow and spillage problems. I have recently become disabled as of March 2, 2017 with a Neurological Disorder and I used to be very active and on the go. I was no longer able to walk with out assistance after this date. I became completely unable to walk April 11th,2917 and bed-bound and wheelchair bound. Bathroom trips became very difficult. I still didn't have a good solution and lots of strain to get to the bathroom in a wheelchair on my own at the time. After a fall at the end of May of 2017 on my one good leg during a neuro eval things got worse. I needed to make a plane trip to Mayo Clinic in June to further determine the cause of my disability. I had no way to use the restrooms on the plane and even though I was on Delta Medical Disability and given a seat at the front of the plane. I was not able to use the restroom because of the amount of staff it would take to get me there and the pain it would cause on my body so I held it for hours. My father who was taking care of me during my 26 days while at Mayo needed something that was able to relieve the strain on him as a caretaker to just get up and take me to the bathroom as he is getting up in age. Even as being continent, it was difficult to transfer to my wheelchair to go to the bathroom and even for just a small trip it took so much effort. Other popular urinals on the market or in hospitals don't have the ability to have the anti-reflux valve or the capacity that this unit does. 2,000 ml is 64 fluid ounces. I used to work in the health care field years ago and remember having to empty full urinals or catheter bags and what a challenge that was. This is great because it means even as I go through the day I am not worried ever about going over the limit of the Urinal. The easy release anti-reflux valve makes it such that a caregiver is able to properly dispose of urine in a safe and containable manner and flush out the system with soap and water. We normally use hot water and soap and clean the inside of the urine receptacle and the foam insert to prevent any infection. I used this Comfort Fit Male Urinal safely on the return plane trip from the MN to AL and a long day. I called it a half-Cath and it was declared as Delta agents were careful as to not mess it up and plane patrons were careful not to get near it and also had no questions because I was able to wrap the tube around my leg. The privacy and ability to discretely use this urinal system from Advantage Urinal Systems even while I am in my wheelchair and bed and even if company has arrived it as huge relief. I am now ordering these two months in advance as home health has requested and so a total of 12 a year but this year it will be a total of 15. My caretakers who take care of me for 64 hours love it and it is easy to use for my parents. The handle attaches comfortably and safely to my seizure pad on the top for easy use in the night and it attaches to the bottom of the hook on my seizure pads for proper down flow and care. I don't know what I would have done without this Urinal as far as care. It works perfectly with a bed pan Don't settle for something that is a third of the price and doesn't do the job. Spend the money get it on prime and have the ability to have at least some independence back. If you are bed bound, disabled or simply unable to get up to use the bathroom and have frequent trips, get this item. You won't regret it. My wife helps as a caregiver for someone who is confined to a wheelchair and bed. We have purchased a few of the Reusable Portable Male Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System in the last couple of years and have learned a few things that may be of interest. First of all the product works well for bed use and serves its purpose and well worth the purchase. You have to consider it a disposable item after a certain amount of usage and how often you choose to deodorize the system. The collection bag is what we have found to fail and it usually develops a leak in the drain or bag seams. First suggestion you can purchase a comparable urinal bag for a few dollars and buy a plastic barbed nipple (5/16” I believe but not sure) from home improvement center and cut the tubing on the bag and splice the new bag in place using the nipple. We tried to find the best urinal bags that had the same size tubing. Note using hot water to heat up the tubing helps in inserting the nipple into the tubing. When that bag fails just replace it again. Remember you only need to cut away the vinyl tubing on one end of the barbed nipple. If you want extra insurance just hang the bag inside a simple plastic bucket and if it develops a leaks it saves a cleanup. Second suggestion after numerous bag changes my wife asked if there is a container to drain into rather than a bag. Well there is and now we changed the bag out for a plastic container made for this purpose. ConvaTec Night Drainage Container Set and Urocare 4100 Reusable Night Drain Bottle 2000cc or two units that come to mind. In both cases just splice the tubing into the existing tubing and make the vinyl tubing long enough for the patient. Note you may be able to use any container of your choice except the Urocare does have a rubber valve at the top which keeps the odor in check. We also use the same simple round bucket to sit the urinal container in because it’s easier carrying to the bathroom for disposal of the contents. Third suggestion we have found placing a cap over the foam part of the hand held unit helps controlling any odor when not in use. We found right size disposable plastic bottle and cut about 2-1/2 inches from the bottom of the bottle and made a cap that fit nicely over the foam. The hardest part was finding the right size since most drink bottles were too small in diameter. Hope this helps.

When not feeling safe enough and very tired and sleepy in the middle of the night to get up and go, This was a great comfort to not only the patient but the care giver to get restful sleep and know the patient did not have to go very far to use the bathroom and fall when a little unstable. we also used a larger rectangular waste container with a plastic bag inside to secure it. It was easily transferred to the sink to wash out the next day . it developed a slight leak and have to repurchase! EDIT After using this new design (triangular bag , emptying spout at an angle, one hook on back , stiffer tube etc) This one is terrible! What were they thinking. It doesn’t hang flat, it’s awkward to empty, tube is longer and way to stiff....... I have used the old one ( rectangular, spout on bottom , double hanger , it hangs flat even when full or empty ) and now for more than a year I had to purchase the stupid new one as a spare because the old one developed a small leak. No problem. This new one may even go in the garbage! I was able to still get the old style fortunately! Edit to previous! 3/2021, Finally spoke with someone at the company. Explaining that for us, this is a must have unit. I am dealing with the redesign of the new unit but dont like it at all. Many other reviews talk about LEAKS! That is not the issue here. Asked if there are any older units out there Old design, less stiff and shorter tube, double hanger , rectangular bag, etc, WAITING FOR A RESPONSE! Again, I between a rock and a hard place, I will have to use the one I have until I can get this resolved. No one else has anything like this on the market. Hope they listen, and respond favorably!!

Caring for my brother in law after a stroke left him paralyzed and unable to speak wasn't going to be easy. With a lot of hard work and determination my husband and I were confident we could handle things. Things got real hectic fast when his inability to empty his bladder and the constant need to be put on the commode atleast 3 or 4 times each hr until hes finally capable of urinating. . Over the course of a day this took up over 50% of our time and after 3 months without any diagnosis or help from his Dr was not only frustrating, we were exhausted and stressed. He constantly felt physical pain and the need to ask for help made his condition worse knowing we were at our wits end. Diapers were humiliating and catheters scared me. Exhaustion and stressed led us to try a 5 dollar jug from a local Medical Store to use in bed. The apparatus left no doubt as to the pain and discomfort it would cause left me in tears. Desperate and out of options I went online but didn't expect o find much more than we had just purchased. That's when I saw Advantages product. It's every detail showed they must have put a lot of care and thought into making it. I'm a woman yet I knew the comfort he would feel with the soft opening, tubing that drains into a bag etc etc. it was delivered about 5 hrs ago. His enthusiasm gave us hope but the results so far are unbelievable. Within the hour he had urinated twice and, for the 1st time in 3 mths he actually felt no pain. Obviously he was unable to empty his bladder which caused his discomfort and all the urine infections. I can't believe how a Medical Physician couldn't figure this out rather than diagnosing anti biotics. So now he has had his dinner and is sleeping like a baby. Without the care and thought Advantage obviously puts into their products not only saved us our marriage,but has given our patient what I can only believe he would say from the ear to ear grin that he can now get on with his life and healing exercises with hope and dignity.

This has been helpful for me rather than getting up multiple times a night to empty a urine bottle. So far we have used three brand new Advantage Urine Systems and as mentioned in other reviews, I hang it on the rim of a waste basket in case it leaks. The first comfort stystem with the foam collar on the urinal worked fine for about a month and developed a leak. The foam stayed in place for the entire time. Cleaning is a little difficult as you have to find a place to hang it on the toilet, empty the urine, fill with soapy water, manipulate it to swirl the soapy mixture into the corners of the bag because they discolor very quickly. Sometimes the urine smell does not dissapate and I have had to clean it yet again. I am contemplating a urine cleaner but wonder if it will cause it to leak sooner. We bought a new Advantage Urinal comfort system and almost immediately the foam collar came off. For five dollars more for the collar - it is a steep price when it pops off. I tried to reattch the foam collar with glue but it would not work. I would have returned it but the logistics just presented too much more work than I already have. I pretty much ignored all of the reviews mentioning the quality problems because this product allows me to get a full night's sleep. My husband is an quad amputee with just a few fingers on his left hand so using it is/can be difficult. This one just developed a leak pretty soon also. We are now on our third Comfort System and I like to have one in the house so I am re-ordering again. but I am ordering one more Comfort System, One Standard system and I am also ordering three (3) bags for $49.00. Hopefully the quality will be better as these are not cheap and there are many other urine systems available.

I recently had a motorcycle accident and broke my right leg requiring a rod to be inserted down the length of my tibia. My doctor advised me to not put any weight on it for at least two months until the bones mended enough to start physical rehabilitation. This meant that I spent most of my time either in bed or with my leg raised and resting at chest height while sitting on the couch. This made it difficult getting up to go the the bathroom, especially at night. I was using a walker to get around but it was painful to move the leg to get out of bed or up and off the couch whenever I had to go. (I am 63 years old and need to go a few more times than when I was younger.) I started out using a handheld urinal that would hold 1000 cc since that is what I used while in the hospital. In the hospital, I had a nurse who would empty it after one or two uses. When I got home, my wife took over that job but in a few days her attitude changed, especially at 2 or 3 in the morning, Even though the handheld urinals are designed to use in bed, it was awkward to use them whenever they got more than half full. I ordered the Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System and after the first use in bed I realized this was the only way to go. The bladder holds 2000 cc's, which allowed me to use it throughout the night without having to empty it. (My wife said that it was the best purchase I have made since the accident.) It is well made, portable, holds twice as much as most handheld urinals, the bladder has a build in valve that makes it spill proof and locks in the smell. It is as easy to drain and rinse as any handheld urinal. In bed, when it got close to full, I didn't worry about spilling it like I did when using a handheld urinal. The soft comfort ring around the lip made it a lot more comfortable to use than a hard plastic opening that most handhelds have. I would highly recommend the Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System to anyone who needs to use a handheld urinal for any length of time. Well worth the money.

Update May 6, 2013: Some four months ago, a pinhole developed at the bottom of the bag where the tube is attached. I tried to use electric tape to stop the leak, it did not work. So now I placed in a trough, and use it as usual, then take the whole package to the bath room to empty and clean. ===============================================================. Update as of Nov 2nd, 2012: After a few months of daily use, the inside of the large plastic bag becomes discolored. To clean it off, I poured about 2 cups of White Vinegar, let it sit flat on its white surface for about 2 hours, Then I did shake the bag horizontally for a couple of minutes, which helped the tough stains to get loose. Then I turned it over and let it sit flat on its see-thru surface for another 2 hours, and again did shake it again for another couple of minutes too. After emptying the vinegar into a glass bottle to use for another future treatment of the bag, I twice fully filled the bag with warm water. And the result of this treatment was that I got a brand new clean like unit. ============================= The Original Preview: Since I purchased this unit on and off, I had been using at night this Reusable Portable Male Comfort Fit Advantage Urinal System with Spill Proof Collection Bag. This bag is an excellent tool to use when constipated. I take many medications and it gives me severe cases of constipation. Normally, the urge {many false alarms to remind you} to go potty comes, the pain in the rear gate gets sharper and stronger, because of the high pressure the trapped poo poo exerts. I run to the toilet, sit down and some gases escape, and that is it. Then the pressure of the trapped wee wee in the you know where causes more pain here too. After that, the peeing starts slowly and gradually increases and stops. Then another round of the pain takes place, and again the pee starts flowing out slowly, then gradually faster till my built-in septic tank is emptied. Of course the pain causes me to have an uncomfortable interrupted night time sleep. One day recently, I decided to use the pee bag while I am asleep. To my surprise, when the urge to pee, I adjusted the position of the bag on my body, and the pee gradually streamed out, none stop, with ease. The next night, I did the same, and did I have a good night sleep. Now during the day, when I have to go for a wee wee job, instead of going to the bathroom, I go to bed, lay down, hook the pee bag and go for it. That easy! Thus, using this pee bag when constipated, makes it easier to release the pee, and to enjoy a good night sleep too.

I ordered this hoping it would be more comfortable for my BIL to urinate. Since his stroke he was in agony Ashe couldn’t go and we were short tempered as he wanted to be put on the commode constantly. This product was the answer to all our prayers. It’s natural capabilities to use laying down without the need to rush plus the comfort of use gave us our lives back. Easy to use, easy to clean, I can’t imagine life without the comfort he has using this product. I’ve purchased 3 within 12 months. The 3rd one was a spare but I’d given it to him since he got his new bed so I will be ordering again real soon.

I would have given it 10 stars if the bag didn't get leak within two days n created a mess during night. The idea of this product is wonderful and helps and eases life of a caregiver like me but the leakage of the bag so soon destroyed the good feeling. But thanks to Amazon they understood my problem and refunded immediately. Planning to buy again this product for my elderly dad hoping that this time the product would survive at least 3 to 4 months like it did in my previous buys. A lil bit scared to buy again but the product is too good to ignore when it's bag remains unleaked for a longer period as it is quite a costly one.

works great! saves night time spilling from a regular urinal. great product although price is high for what it is (should be a $20 product really as there is nothing to make it worth over $50) but when you need it, you need it!
