What type of battery is needed?

https://www.amazon.com/Energizer-2032-Battery-CR2032-Lithium/dp/B0042A9UXC/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1534851928&sr=1-4&keywords=3v+lithium+batteries&dpID=41j66owP5sL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Does the battery have to be put in before use? It looks like there is one installed? But it doesnt come on.

The battery that came with it did not last long at all so yours is likely an older battery. Just put in a new one. They are the flat 2032 batteries.

Does it stick to the skin or do you have to hold it?

It does NOT stick to the skin. You have to hold it
