It well-made, cooks well, and it's easy to clean!
Excellent stovetop grill that's well-made! The thick and durable nonstick coating makes clean up very easy with a sponge and warm sudsy water. It's portable and easy to store until you need it again. I have a gas stove and I had to center this base pan on my stovetop burner grate. I found that this design can slide around on my burner grates, if I wasn't careful when moving the food around while it's cooking on the grill plate. Before I preheated the stovetop grill, I added water to the base pan. This keeps the grill from smoking as the grease from the grilled food drains into the base pan and mixes with the water. The water also steams through the vented slots on the grill plate and adds some moisture to the food being grilled. I then seasoned and grilled two paper thin breakfast steaks for our dinner on this stovetop grill. It grilled the steaks with grill marks and cooked them perfectly. After the steaks cooked I then grilled onions on the center of the grill plate; they cooked perfectly too. My husband was quite impressed with the taste of the steaks, the tenderness, and that there was no smoke when cooking with this stovetop grill. Overall, this stovetop grill cooks well, it's fun to use, easy to clean, and I look forward to using it again. I feel that I definitely found value for money in this purchase!

totally recommended
I'm a big fan of this stovetop grill. My apartment building has the most sensitive fire alarm in the world. I have had it go off when I'm making quesadillas on my stove and I hadn't even burned anything. Since the entire building sets an alarm off in each apartment when one of the smoke detectors is triggered, I was a little nervous about trying this grill. I'm impressed that it did not produce a bit of smoke and the food came out great. You do have to preheat it. The instructions say to preheat until you can hear a "sizzle." I threw droplets of water on it with my fingertips until I heard a sizzle. For the photos I uploaded, I had marinated chicken overnight in a delicious mustard rosemary marinade and it turned out great. I also added some dried rosemary to the water ring and my apartment smelled like rosemary while it heated up and created some fragrant steam. It took about 15 minutes for my gas stovetop to heat the stovetop grill enough to hear a sizzle. Then I butterflied one of the chicken breasts and left the other one thick to test which one would come out better. They take longer than you think they will since the heat isn't concentrated like you get with an outdoor grill. I flipped over the chicken at around ten minutes and they didn't stick at all which is amazing since I didn't use a drop of oil to grease this grill (but there was some olive oil in the marinade). I used a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature and took off the chicken breasts when the meat met an internal temp of 165 degrees. Clean-up was easy. The surface is truly nonstick. The chicken came out delicious with a crisp "crust" on the outside, but truly tender and juicy on the inside. The butterflied chicken cooked faster and got more crisp since there was more surface area. Both came out great! I'm so excited to be able to grill in my apartment despite the sensitive fire alarm!

Baby, it's cold outside so let's grill inside!
First, let me say I wish I could give this a 4.5 star review but I can't. My only "complaint" is that I wish there was a better owner's manual. The manual is a basic piece of paper with "how" to use the product on the stove top (electric or gas but not a flat-top), oven, and outdoor grill. However, I wish they could have gone into some basic recipe tips such as how long do you cook chicken, pork, beef, and/or vegetables. I read another review and saw a general time frame. Okay, so this REALLY WORKS! I cut some large chicken breasts into smaller tenders and marinaded in a Caesar Ranch dressing for several hours and then sprinkled some Paula Deen's House Seasoning on it. I preheated oven on med heat and once I could see the eye of the burner turning a slight red I put the Stove Top Grill's drip pan on the burner. I used a measuring cup and filled it the grill with water (Pic 1) right below the lip where the edge (pic 2) would lay. I let the water come to a slow boil, that's when you hear it "sizzling," sprayed the grill with non-stick cooking spray (also pic 2) and then I placed the chicken on the grill (pic 3). Pic 4 is about 8-10 minutes into the cooking process. Pic 5: I placed lid over the grill because I wanted to contain the chicken on the grill surface and not let it slide on to the non-cooking area. Pic 6 is about 30 minutes into the cooking process. Pic 7 is after about 40 minutes. Pic 8: I coupled the grilled chicken with a homemade sunflower bacon salad. The chicken tastes great...the pieces that stayed in the center of the grill seemed to cook and char faster but the ones that cooked over the vents seemed to have a more moist texture to them. During the cooking process I added more water about 20 minutes into the drip pan to prevent it from drying out. As a previous reviewer mentioned: The cleanup was a breeze. I used non-stick cooking spray; which could have made it easier. The entire pan and grill look just like it did when it came out of the box. There is a slight and I mean very slight discoloration on the bottom of the pan where it came in contact with the burner heat. I am clinically diagnosed OCD and it's so small that it doesn't even bother me. It's the hue you would see after you use pots and pans for a while. Regarding a smoke effect because you're grilling...there was none while I was cooking. I could hear the water/meat sizzling but no smoke. The only time I got the slightest hint of smoke (actually a light fog if you wish) was when I was trying to rearrange some the chicken. I accidentally hit the grill hard enough that some of the liquid from the drip pan spilled out and made contact with the burner element. I priced several indoor grills and some were $50-100. I saw this one and read some reviews and it was being promoted as Amazon's Top Choice. Now I know why. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in grilling indoors. I can't eat beef and pork so I will only be using mine for chicken. I plan on trying some vegetables and my next endeavor will be to use it in the oven. I may come and do an update if/when I do that.

Very Satisfied!
Very pleased with this product. Delivery was swift. Great product for the price. I received the grill today, took it out of the box, carefully read the simple instructions, washed and dried it in hot soapy water, rubbed the cooking surface with a little oil, filled the ring with water as directed, preheated the grill over MEDIUM heat, on my gas stove (it fit perfectly) and placed my marinated Korean boneless, skinless chicken thighs on the cooking surface. This grill heats up very quickly, and in no time I had absolutely juicy and delicious chicken thighs. My apartment only smelled of the delicious aroma of grilling Korean barbecued chicken thighs. This product actually GRILLS, rather than steams, with the fat running down into the liquid ring ( I like this healthy option), and the chicken had a nice char. I also basted it half way through cooking with fresh marinade. No smoke, no splatter, no mess, no smoke alarms going off in my apartment, no neighbors banging on the door. I didn't even turn on the exhaust fan. I washed the grill by hand, and cleanup was a snap!! Can't wait to try veggies and shrimp next. For some reviewers who had problems with smoking and splatter. Follow the instructions carefully. Do not cook on high heat -- you really don't need to, this grill gets plenty hot on medium. Fill the liquid ring with 1/2 cup of liquid. Do not place frozen food on hot grill, thaw first. If using marinade, drain the food and pat dry before placing on grill surface. Trim excess fat from meat and chicken. Maybe not the best option for huge thick slabs of meat, use your outdoor grill for that. If grilling burgers use lean ground meat. I think this grill works best with boneless cuts of meat and chicken. Pay attention, and do not over cook. Happy indoor grilling. Cheers!

which sucks way worse
Meh. This serves its purpose for a decent indoor stove top grill. But it doesnโt matter what magic I do - adjust water, temp, pre-Pam or no Pam, density of meat - my meat and food always ends up with some char on it and never cooks evenly. I mean instant black spots of char, not just after a long time of cooking. It serves its purpose, but by no means is this a miracle machine. The photos on this product are deceptive to how your food actually turns out and how evenly it cooks. Iโve tried adjusting all I can to see if itโs user error. I just donโt think it is, unfortunately. I still use it from time to time, but not when Iโm making something that I may be hoping to impress company with. It does the trick for quick alternative to broiling meat in an apartment, which sucks way worse. So silver lining?

I filled the ring with 1/2 cup water like the instructions said and oiled the non-stick top
I bought this type of grill as a recommendation from a coworker for grilling meats indoors. I live in a small apt and don't have a lot of space for storage of a large griddle. I saw other similar items on Amazon, but the cheaper ones had reviews stating that the non stick peeled after a use. I figured I'd shell out an extra few bucks if it meant longevity. I filled the ring with 1/2 cup water like the instructions said and oiled the non-stick top, like another reviewer suggested for easier clean up. The meat turned out amazing. One reviewer said that you need to preheat a while as it's 2-3" from the flame, but mine was smoking in a couple minutes. I think you need to know your burning to gage preheating. My gas stove top is so hot that usually when cook, I can only turn it up 3/4 of the way for "high" heat or it damages my nonstick pans. I turned it up all the way so it would get nice and hot. I bought a pack of pre-marinated thinly sliced Korean BBQ meat (bulgoggi) and the meat turned out juicy w/some nice crisp caramelized edges, which took maybe 5 min for the first batch, less for the next. Also, as I went to put on the next batch, the grill was already too hot and starting to burn, so i had to turn it down. Yes, there is some smoking, as you're grilling meat as that's what meat does when you grill it. Yes, there will be a little bit of sputtering, as that's what meat does when you grill it. Clean up of the non stick top layer of the grill and the aluminum ring was super easy. Just a quick wipe with my soap sponge. Underneath, on the other side of the non stick side of the grill is harder. I scraped using my nail through the soap sponge and was able to get most of it off. I can't wait to try out some shish kabobs, burgers and steak. As this was only my first use, I have yet to test out it's longevity. But as of now, I. Love. This. Grill.

Cooks just like a outdoor grill
I got this because I recently moved to a new apartment and my new place has a closed in back/front porch. I like to grill out during the summer. I am unable to put a grill out on my porch. I am on the 2nd fl and dont want to have to be running up and down the stairs to bring stuff out. Unlike my last residence it was a open porch. So I was able to grill out on my porch. So, far I made a steak, hamburgers and made some ribs. All of it came out good and taste just like I cooked it on the grill. Now, to get that charcoal grill taste. If you haven't heard of liquid smoke... get it. It makes a big difference. It makes the food taste like it was cooked on a charcoal grill. I used Wright's Liquid Smoke Hickory. You can mix it in your marinade or rub it on your food before you cook it. I love this stove top grill. Now, for all the negative reviews on this grill. This is why I dont go by anyone reviews. I chance it for myself. Please read the instruction booklet that came with it. This is a smokeless stove top grill. You can use it on gas and electric stove. Read booklet for how to use it on both stoves. If you got the fire blazing up high it will smoke, so you will need to turn the fire down and it says that in the booklet. I also take the battery out of my smoke detector before I cook. The top is non stick but it also says to oil the grill top to prevent smoke and food from sticking to the grill top. So, there you have it. My personal review and use of this grill. It worked fine for me. I think with all the negative reviews, they may not know how to cook LOL and maybe thats why the grill didn't work for them.

Ingenious!
So pleased with this item! I have just moved to an apartment where grills are not allowed indoors or on our balconies. With storage space at a premium, I was looking for a compact way to grill indoors without making a huge mess or setting off the smoke alarm. This little grill fits the bill perfectly. I used it to grill my first summer hot dog. I even toasted the bun on it. CAVEAT! You MUST put water or liquid in the lower tray to avoid smoke. Without liquid or water, the juices roll off of the dome, splash on the hot tray, and create smoke. One more important point to describe the grill. The lower tray is similar to a tire rim. There is no center. The inside circle on the rim of the tray encircles your stoveโs flame. Heat rises up through the center opening to heat the dome. The dome has slots around the perimeter, which are directly over the trough in the tray. This allows the juices to flow from the dome directly into the trough without splashing on the stove. I must admit I was extremely cautious, not knowing what to expect, but my fears were unnecessary. This is a very cool little item, brilliant engineering. Both pieces washed off easily, and I could have put them in the dishwasher if I chose. Perfect item for my needs.
