Little Book Of Ikigai Review: Great book! - This book takes you to the Heart of Ikigai and helps the reader understand the meaning of ikigai. It is a great read. Review: From the Japanese point of view, to English readers - Summary: this book is a rare book where the concept is explained by a Japanese. It gives us a different insight compared to the ikigai concept that's circulating on the internet, as well as how ikigai is applied in Japan. Of course it has some weaknesses, but overall worth the money and time to read. + A different flavor of ikigai I have seen the four circle ikigai diagram years ago and am pleasantly surprised that this book's contents is very different. One prime example is one element of the diagram is emphasis on "what you can be paid for" while in this book author clearly stated that you do what gives you ikigai even if you are not getting paid (like passion, right?). I felt the concept of ikigai explained in this book is...less pressure, lower bar. In my opinion, that is a wonderful thing. + Giving new understanding After reading this book, I find that sometimes the word of "passion" is not enough. A while ago, I watched a video about a Japanese sushi chef in YouTube. Commenters said that passion allows the chef to work long hours. Before, I'll agree with them. Now, I say it's ikigai. + Short read + Subjective opinion: relaxing I've read a lot of self help books and this is one of the most relaxing (besides "The Little Book of Hygge") and meditative most of the time. I recommend reading this in the morning, with a cup of tea/coffee (optional). - Subjective opinion: weak ending I mentioned above that the book is relaxing, however the last chapters didn't give the same feeling. I felt it was rushed, or edited to take out repetitive stuff.

One of the best Ikigai book out there
I liked this Ikigai book more than Garcia’s and Miralles’ version. Filled with Various references to Japanese’s culture, this little book of Ikigai will help you find Ikigai in your day to day life.

as the title suggests this is a short book on ikigai but concise and to the point. it is perhaps better appreciated if you have some knowledge of eastern philosophical thoughts. if nothing else it gave me some insights into the Japanese mindset. as the author alludes if language of a culture is a window into that culture then it is important that the word ikigai exists. for our thoughts become our words and our words manifests as actions which subsequently form our traditions.
