In the first half, author Arthur Cotterell describes the central mythical figures of classical Greece and Rome, the Celtic heroes and the Nordic gods. In the second part, author Rachel Storm expertly leads us through the powerful pantheon of gods and goddesses of the East from Ancient Egypt through Central Asia, to the dragon festivals of eastern lands. Pictorial features focus on recurring mythological themes, including heroes, oracles and prophecies. This comprehensive A-Z guide is timeless in its universal appeal.

Comprehensive
I had to get this for a class. This is very comprehensive, lots of helpful pictures, and the information is well-researched. The words are small due to the amount of info; some people may need a magnifying glass.

GREAT!
What a super product. The pictures are wonderful and the info is well written and comprehensive. We are big fans of Rick Riordan, but were not familiar with all of the mythologies he includes in his books. Now we can look things up.

Great encyclopedia
I like to use this a reference and it gets to the point, that way I can narrow down to the myths Iโd like to know more about. Overall great, only thing is I hoped it was bigger.

My son loved it!
Bought this for my 11 yr old son for Christmas. He thought there was only one kind of mythology, he was thrilled to see there were so many. Very informative for my little nerd, :)

Excellent
Originally I bought this book for information on Greek mythology but it's one of those books I find there is always something new to learn about old cultures and I find that fascinating. I've already read how Japan was formed and can't wait to learn more. I love it.

Lots of info, but miniscule text
There's a lot of fascinating mythology from all the great polytheistic religions crammed into this book. Unfortunately, the microscopic text makes it look just that, "crammed".Even wearing reading glasses isn't enough, I had to spring for one of those large horizontal magnifying glasses to be able to read the book without eyestrain. If you're getting older and having a hard time reading things up close, this may be a struggle. The text size has turned what would've been a relaxing read before bed into an exercise where I have to have the right lighting, seating, etc. or I'll end up discouraged. It's enough to put me off reading it as often as I'd like.
