6" Buffer Polisher, Orbital Car Polisher with Wool and Foam Bonnets (WP900)

I run a detailing company on the side and I've been doing it about 12 years and used over 20 different types of polishes and waxes. Most of the reviews that are bad are people who have no idea what they are doing. I keep reading easily correctable problems. Here's the low down. I remember I paid like $26 the first time for this buffer. It lasted heavy use for 3 years 2 months. On small aircraft, cars, trucks, etc. But I definitely got my money's worth. The good: -The orbital buffing takes a beating and keeps on going. -You can press hard enough to get a good buffing and it's motor is strong enough to keep going. -The ergonomics are great. Holding at different angles etc moving around hard to get places and around bottom of airplanes and corners of body panels. -The 6in is great because it can get a lot more that you don't have to redo by hand later. (Tight spaces etc) -The on/off button is easy to use and press quickly and is in a good spot on it for that. -The cord is connected to it in a good spot. I jut skin it over my shoulder and it stays out of my way most of the time. -The handles allow a firm press with two hands and much greater control over it. -It's less than $30. Way better than any of its competitors for what you get. The Bad: -I have Black and Decker products that have lasted way longer than 3 years. So I was disappointed when I heard a pop and lost it. I still have a cheap nicad battery operated craftsmen bottom of the line drill that is 9 years old and works great. -After just under 3 years the glue started to lose its effectiveness and the pad was starting to separate. But it was an easy fix with some gorilla glue. -As soon as you try to one hand it in the middle, you accidentally turn it off and it gets annoying sometimes from a palm press. Minor issue. -6in pads are hard to find when not looking on Amazon. 2/6 auto places near me had what I was looking for. Tips: -Don't use any of the pads that come in the box. They are crap. But that's not what you're buying it for. Buy aftermarket ones on here. -There's a foam pad on Amazon that works great. Quick search will find it at reasonable prices. -Watch basic tutorials on waxing if you're new to buffers on YouTube. They will solve 95% of the issues I read about on here. -Give the buffer a chance to work. Don't have just one issue and decide it's crap. It's not crap. You're just getting frustrated too quickly. Try changing polishes or waxes. That might be the issue or your paint might be too far gone to get the result you want etc. It's a buffer. Not a magic machine. -If you use it correctly with good polishes and waxes you will still get a great result 90% of the time. -Any general car, NuFinish works wonders. I suggest Meguiars, Turtle Wax, Adams polishes, or Chemical guys and their top of the line products on special cars. I use Turtle Wax Black on my black truck. Overall: Definitely worth the money and buying again. It's competitors just aren't that great in comparison. There could be improvements that I would pay another ten bucks for. But it's inexpensive, does the job well for a few years of heavy abuse, and you have great results for an inexpensive investment.

great orbital for the price. I've tried larger and smaller orbital polishers and i really like this size. The large one sometimes grabs on something and pulls out of your hands. Smaller ones just take forever, this is sorta in the middle. But the things i like. Orbitals sometimes are super vibrating so your hands can end up numb from all the vibration. This one is somewhat smoother, i found the handles great in keeping the device steady. My hands did not get numb, vibrations were much less then others. The built on black pad seems pretty soft with just enough flex. I polished my nitrocellulose lacquered guitars to take out some light to med scratches and it worked great, these were deep but not through to the paint. Was able to get about 3/4 of the scratch so that it's barely visible line instead of the visible scratch that it was before. So for hobbyist as well, this is a good size.. Also used on my black lexus with meguires compound and ultimate polishes and these pads just work great with this polisher. You can buy some heavy duty velcro pads i think 2 of the 2x4" velcro will hold the meguires 6" da pads. Don't mistakenly buy the da 4" pads, they are too small. But i used the red compound pad for taking light scratches and tree sap and that kind of stuff off, then ultimate polish with the yellow polishing pad and came out super glossy. Took off the white haze on the headlights too. Really easy to handle with the extra handle on top. I think this is great for the price. Easy for novice detailer to get good results without using a prof high rpm device that can burn the paint.

I purchased this, my first buffer, because I simply can't do it by hand any longer. This was the least expensive option among units that go WELL into hundreds of dollars...and I get it. This can be a very important tool for various users. I have never used one, didn't really know what I wanted and the pitfalls of the various type. Reading suggested starting with something orbital, so I did. This thing is a whole lot like the little DA sanders in the same price category. It's got a nice design that makes it easy to use with one or both hands. The pads that come with this are a joke. The applicator pad tore apart before it would allow me to grab the edge and remove from the foam backing plate. The polishing bonnets worked fairly well but I pulled a bit at the foam on the backing trying to get those off. Thinking about running a small ribbon underneath in order to have something to grab. I also like the suggestion of one of the users about making it "velcro" with slight modification. Seems like a smart plan for not tearing up that backing plate. I would highly suggest going ahead and purchasing the bag of micro fiber bonnets available all over Amazon to go along with this. All in all I am happy enough with the results and particularly to the price. It doesn't look like a professional waxed it, because I am not a professional...but I sure didn't feel nearly as tired for near as good a job as I have ever done. Worthwhile purchase.

Used this to repair headlights from UV oxidation. Used turtlewax product with it. Took my time and turned out great!!! It stopped me from using too much pressure and damaging the lights. Excellent tool. *follow-up * Used this again on my other daughter's highlander- again with the turtlewax headlight Restore.... And mcguire's u v protection spray for headlights after the job was done... this thing has paid for itself - body shops here wanted $75 to do this... showed the before and after photos. The tool works. It's "me proof" since I tend to complicated the simple and mess up the basics. There are youtube videos out there showing how to use the random orbit polisher to remove UV oxidation. Watch as few, get an understanding of the process.. I also used a micro fiber cloth to wipe it clean before applying the McGuiers UV protection spray when I was done removing the oxidation. Side note....corners are difficult. The bottom right corner about an inch squared I couldn't Get to it this tool because of the angle of the light. I just did thst by hand withba rag and some of the turtlewax product. Total time for one headlight... approx 45 min including waiting between coats for the Mcguires sealer.

I own many Black & Decker tools because they work well and they are affordable, but I am still surprised at the low price of this waxer/polisher considering how well it performs. Now, the included polishing pads are not the greatest and I’m glad I purchased additional microfiber pads which, by the way, fit a lot better than the ones included with the machine. I like to use microfiber pads to apply wax or even polishing compounds, and I like to use a good quality microfiber towel to do the actual buffing by hand. This polisher is very easy to use and it does not numb your hands as others tend to do. It is light and it will work very well as long as you allow it to do the work. There’s no need to apply extra pressure to get good results. Actually, doing so may work against you. Instead, just be patient and follow the owner’s manual instructions. The cord is approx. 9.5-feet long which is long enough in most cases, but I had to use an extension cord in order to work comfortably and not have to move my truck. After you’re done waxing or polishing, dispose of the old pad. Don’t try to wash it hoping to reuse it. It won’t work. Just get a new one to obtain the best results. I waxed and polished my truck in under an hour, which is not bad at all considering it’s a 4-door crew cab, long bed RAM 1500. Hope you find my review helpful.

This is my first time purchasing am orbital buffer as I been waxing and buffing my cars by hand. Since I am a beginner I decided to purchase this reasonably priced beginner's orbital buffer from Black & Decker. Appearance/Durability 5/10 Performance 5/10 Learning Curve 8/10 Price 10/10 Overall experience as a beginner it was fairly easy to understand the mechanics of it and setting up was not difficult. I been also watching a lot of tutorials as well as youtube videos of car care professionals giving advise and pointers. Here is one thing, if you are shopping for bonnets, use the draw string type as the standard elastic types of bonnets is very difficult to slip onto the foam pad. It takes some time getting used to and I can almost bet that once the bonnets are washed/dried it will be even harder to install. The vibrations are pretty brutal on the hands to the point where you may feel like your hands fell asleep. Also, it is extremely loud, maybe I have a defective item but due to this I am returning my orbital buffer after using it once for 1 hour. For some reason since the first time I turned it out the buffer produced this loud metal grinding sound throughout the entire usage. It sounded like the belt slipping sound on an old car but it was through the entire time of using it. After a while it would get louder and louder to the point I had to stop using it. The pads that come with the buffer are also completely useless, maybe the foam pad may be used once but I can see that it won't be able to be reused. The buffing bonnets, have a texture of a used/dried up kitchen towel would not recommend using the bonnets that come with this kit. Microfiber is the way to go for applying and polishing wax for amateur car enthusiasts.

Need a nice smaller buffer for home projects? This is it 2 yr. Guarantee also. I have had smaller and larger, this is only 6” but does the job. My Florida room has 20 windows & doors with some kind of vinyl windows. They are 22 years old and had bad water stains. I tryed different cleaners didn’t work. I use to buff out my 26’ fiberglass boat so I thought buffing might work. Well this little buffer and a bottle of TurtleWax Polishing compound and some Novus scratch remover did the job. I really over bought on product and buffing pads! You don’t really need all that much to do the job. I recommend it.

Ergonomics are great compared with the ultra cheapies or the modified grinder bodies. Not much vibration, portable with a long enough power cord, appearance is fine for a plastic body, and the fit was okay, comes with two bonnet covers, the foam disc that is one won't bear up to heavy use nor manhandling so treat it carefully. This is primarily a lighter polishing/rubbing machine and a good buffing machine for wax jobs.

Me gusto mucho, tiene una sola velocidad para un solo sentido. Buena potencia, me ayudó mucho a sacar unos rayones de pintura que tenia tiempo de no poder quitarlos. COMPREN UNA BOLRA APLICADORA EXTRA. La aplicadora es muy frágil, yo la rompí al intentar quitarla :S. Las borlas pulidoras están bien, sin problema. VALE LA PENA INVERTIR UN POCO MÁS EN UNA MARCA RECONOCIDA QUE LAS PULIDORAS ESAS AZULES MÁS BARATAS PERO CHAFAS.

this is ok. gets the job done. Build quality is almost ok. Expected a bit better.

Non UK plug, needed an adapter. Plugged in, turned on and it started vibrating very badly and then the disc snapped off. Sending back.

Es una excelente compra que te ahorrará mucho tiempo. Me ha servido perfecto para encerar y pulir 2 autos que quedan muy bien sin invertir tanto esfuerzo. Hay que tener paciencia y ser consistente al cubrir las superficies para lograr un buen resultado, veo comentarios mencionando que no sirve el producto pero es que tampoco hace magia si quieres terminar la tarea en 5 minutos. Obviamente también cuenta la calidad de cera que ocupes. El único pero que le pondría es que los bonetes si son de muy baja calidad, la esponja se rompió al primer uso y los peluches servirán un par de veces más quizá, aún así es muy buena compra si aprovechas alguna oferta de Amazon. Lo recomiendo.
