Exactly,Firechachi. The piece with the single, long, antenna goes outside. The othet piece goes directly over it (cover it) on inside of glass.

How close does phone need to be? Will it boost 25 feet from outside building to inside?

It doesn't boost the signal, it's a repeater for poor factory antennas and doesn't even do that! Not even the $300 ones give a bar where there isn't one and MIGHT be able to improve a bar where there is service already and is borderline! It needs to be within 2-3', 25' isn't possible without spending $400-$500. It's just something cheap and manages to sell countless numbers of them because people want better signal and think they can get it for $15.

I have service when I put my phone on the window. Will it help give me a signal in my room?

Maybe if you attach it in the window. I haven't had any luck with it. Tried it to boost signals for events that I do, and it did not work outside the car.
