Standard Photinia ‘Red Robin’ is compact and neat in shape and very low-maintenance, simply requiring a quick clip once a year to keep its neat rounded shape. This well-known and award-winning variety is reliable and very unfussy, thriving in sun or partial shade and virtually any soil type. The glossy evergreen foliage provides year-round interest, but it looks its best during spring and early summer when the young leaves emerge bright red. This standard tree can be grown in any garden, large or small. Display it in a large patio container, or two either side of a doorway or steps for symmetry. You can also grow it in border among flowering plant to add structural contrast.Grow Photinia plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil.
