Very Effective After You Get Used to It
Overall, I certainly recommend this unit as an effective means to block robocalls and scam calls. The unit was very easy to set up. You can set it up either in series with one of your landline phones or in parallel mode. The only difference I can determine is that, in parallel mode, the phone to which it is connected also rings one time before the unit either blocks the call or lets it through. With that in mind, I'd suggest setting it up in series with your bedroom phone, so you won't hear the first ring. You have to work with it for the first week or so because there will be a lot of robocalls in your local area that aren't in the unit's memory. We've been working at it and now, after two weeks, we get maybe 1-2 calls per day that aren't yet blocked. Go ahead and set up the options, such as blocking all VOIP and private calls. It's easy to follow the instructions about how to do this. It may take 2-3 times to finally block a call you think you've blocked already. The only problem we're having is that, every so often, the unit will not release the call. Our phone's display reads "line in use". I have to disconnect the unit before I can get a dial tone. I'm not sure if this has to do with series versus parallel or perhaps because our alarm company is interrogating our system. I plan to follow up on both of these issues.

Four Failures and Replacements During First Year, Dead and Out Of Warranty in 15 Months
This stands as my lone negative review for a product purchased through Amazon. The Call Blocker V10000 was purchased in February 2019 as a birthday present for my wife. The woman abhors robocalls as much as I, and for $135.00 the V10000 was to be the "ticket" to give robocallers a taste of their own medicine. Fat chance. Plugged into an old AT&T landline digital 4 mail box answering machine phone it took the V10000 about 2 to 3 weeks before it failed with an assortment of errors, cleared by unplugging and then the "Fail" screen, marking the end of its brief useful life. The unit was replaced and failed 3 more times over the span of 4 months. Out of complete desperation to avoid having to refund my purchase price under warranty, Call Blocker's tech support instructed me to plug the unit into a "Y" connection separate from the answering machine phone. That seemed to do the trick and the unit "functioned" for the next nearly 12 months. In retrospect I should have shoved the soon to crap out unit just 3 months past warranty down the throats of Call Blocker, because now I'm out $135. During those 12 months the "Block Now" button for calls in process failed to work and the "Current Calls" feature routinely locked up requiring an unplug and replug to clear. Frequently I would wake up to the "Block Now" button illuminated and again had to unplug and replug to clear. With near constant screwing around with the unit I was able to block received calls and delete the call list. Rare joy when a blocked number called again and got rejected with the evidence of a single ring and the number left on the current calls and our caller ID device. Prior to acquisition of the V10000, we used our caller ID and answering machine to screen calls, e.g. no message = robocaller, nuisance caller. When those calls came from the same number over a brief period of time I went to AT&T and Phone Features to block the number (up to 100 numbers), after which I could check the call history to see if the number continued to dial my number. I will be going back to my original call screening process with Caller ID and AT&T Phone Features to block nuisance repeating calls. When the V10000 "worked", roughly 5% of the numbers that I had blocked ever called back (the single ring evidence of a blocked caller calling back. That is a hard justification for what was a $135 contraption, now $99.95 that worked unreliably at best and ultimately failed in 15 months out of warranty (12 months). This is the first piece of electronics I've owned costing more than $10, with no moving parts to give up the ghost in barely more than one year and operate poorly the entire time. In short, the V10000 is an overpriced piece of junk that hopelessly fails to live up to its expectations while intermittently doing the job it was designed and built to do.

Bought it for the Allow mode
I bought this blocker because it has an Allow mode as well as a Block mode. When in Allow mode only the numbers you enter into the Allow list will get through. All other numbers will be blocked. This is a more efficient way to block calls. If you are expecting a call from an unknown number you can temporarily switch to Block mode, such as if you advertised something for sale and you don't know who will call. On my phone, blocked calls show on the caller ID list for the phone, but not on the blocker, so I can still see who called. This blocker has another nice feature. You can choose to turn on a message for blocked callers. It works for block mode and allow mode. I tried it on two different phone systems. One of them had voicemail as part of the phone service. I blocked my cell phone number and dialed the landline. It went to voicemail and I had a chance to leave a message. At a different house with a physical answering machine, the blocker left a short electronic message saying the call was blocked, but it didn't get through to the answering machine. This is a great solution for those people who have a regular group of callers and don't normally receive calls from unexpected numbers. Even those who get some unexpected but desired calls can use the Allow mode if they have voicemail from their phone company, if they are satisfied to get a voicemail instead of having the call going through. Update: The manual method of adding numbers to the allow list requires that you phone the number and press the allow button. If you don't hang up fast enough the person phones you back. I found it easier to use the **7# method to add the number to the block list and then move it to the allow list.

Whitelist feature (Allow mode) is exactly what I needed
I purchased this unit for the whitelist feature (Allow mode), which only allows specific phone numbers and area codes you enter to call through. Everything else gets blocked which is good because the spam numbers are always changing and it's almost impossible to keep up with them in the block list. For my whitelist, I entered my local area code which I receive most of my legit calls from. Spam calls tend to be from area codes other than my own. When manually entering an area code or phone number, do not enter the "1" prefix as the device matches against Caller Id which does not contain this prefix. Also, ignore the strange dial tones you hear while manually entering the number. The only downside to the Allow mode is that you may block a legit caller who is not in your whitelist, so think carefully when adding numbers and area codes to your whitelist to capture all your legit callers. When numbers are blocked, it actually allows the call to connect to your phone but suppresses the ring (on electronic phones) so you don't hear it. After one or two rings, it detects the blocked number and disconnects the call. My answering machine is set to answer after four rings, so blocked calls never make it since they get disconnected before four rings. There is a feature which optionally plays a pre-recorded message to blocked callers. It would be great if it said something like "We're sorry, the number you are calling from is not approved for this phone service. Goodbye." Unfortunately, the prerecorded message sounds more like an advertisement for CPR than anything helpful. Subtracting one star for that. Overall, I'm very pleased with this device. Reading these reviews is a good supplement to the instruction manual.

Did not work, put my phone out of order.
I bought this call blocker to block robo calls on my land line phone. It was simple to hook up and I am sure I set it up exactly as described. After hooking it up I got a dial tone and so it seemed to be set up and working okay. About two hours after setting it up I tried to use my phone and the line was dead. I figured my AT&T service was out of order. I called AT&T and the representative I talked to said they were having service problems in my area and were working diligently to fix it. So much for the accuracy of AT&T, certainly not like the old days when you got a human to answer and accurately help you. Anyway., this no service went on for two days and in the back of my mind I figured AT&T was fixing the problem. After the two days with no, service I decided to unhook the call blocker and guess what, my service immediately worked and was back on line. So much for AT&T and especially the call blocker. I had missed an important call while th service was out. I have tried 3 different call blockers from Amazon. Not Amazon's fault, but none of them worked properly and I returned all of them. I am frustrated with the robo calls as I get several every day. There used to be a federal number you could sign up for to not get marketing calls, but for a few years now this is not available anymore. There is a number that has replaced the original number where you can sign up, but it doesn't stop robo calls. I see there are several reviews where the people are satisfied with their call blocker. This makes me wonder as it was not true with my service system.

Take Control of Your Home Environment again
Call Blocker has been a true blessing taking away annoying and harassing phone calls, with the press of a button I gain peace of mind and the satisfaction of knowing that scam call can never reach me again. It is almost fun now to receive a call, which now is very rare, to have the pleasure of knowing one is in charge of who can and cannot call. Soothsayers and scam artists, into the abyss with you at the touch of a button. The devise has proved it's metal over the past year I've had it. Call blocker is one of the few items I have purchased and have no regrets. It already has 10,000 known scam robo numbers blocked that will give you instant relief to your phone. You can add another 2,000 of your own, so far I have added 54 and the line is silent when I enjoy supper or decide to take a nap. The devise is very easy to use no big learning curve just press a button and that caller is gone forever. This device is class A1 plus in my experience, I had constant harassing calls from unknown cellphone numbers spoofed etc. with silence on the other end when answered, that is all gone now. Call blocker will automatically block those too when you set it to also block unknown or anonymous callers. There are other simple codes you can enter to block VOIP, international, private calls and more if you so choose. Basically though all you have to do to block any caller instantly is press that big red button and they are gone, from an extension just press a simple two letter cod and they are gone. I highly recommend this device for anyone having their phone number hijacked by scammers. Peter

Works OK
Bought this for my parents, who were (are) being inundated with spam and marketing calls. It was easy to set up and I think for the most part does just what they say it will. Easy to block any number that gets through. I think the overall issue (spam callers) is just too big for even well-intentioned folks like CPR to handle. Spammers can auto-generate so many new numbers in the blink of an eye, there's just no way the call blocker database can keep up. 10K, 100K, doesn't matter. Not CPR's fault, just the nature of the business. I think the BEST solution may be the whitelist option, where only phone numbers manually approved by you can get through. But there's a bit of risk there. That you leave off numbers that DO need to get through. At first glance, it sounds easy - family, friends, maybe your doctor. But then you start to find a bunch of numbers you hadn't thought of. And they're all getting blocked. And you don't know until that person or business finds another way to reach you and tell you. I think the device works as advertised. The call volume has certainly decreased since we plugged it in. But they still get through. Much more than we'd like. As I said - I think it's due to technology and spammers able to spoof and generate thousands of numbers on the fly. We're going to try and gather all the numbers we care about and give the whitelist option a try. I think that might be the way to go. I give it 3 stars, not because they're bad at all, but just because I think the problem is too big for them to solve. 5 stars would infer that all spam calls are blocked and that's not been the case. I know they're doing the best they can.

What a disappointment
I purchased this CPR call blocker to help stop the phone ringing 10-20 a day and seven days a week, and because this was recommended repeatedly in my extensive research online for a reliable spam-call solution, AND because of the many positive 5 Star reviews posted here on Amazon! (***I strongly recommend you read reviews with 3 stars or less to get a more realistic view on the quality of this product.) I can see why there are so many positive (5 star) reviews, people are writing them way too quickly, too soon to see how this will actually work in the longrun and in real life situations. I have used this piece of junk for several weeks now, and I can only tell you that this gadget doesn't work past a few initial days. The first week or so it worked perfectly,**( I used another brand blocker before this one. See below.) it blocked many calls on it's own and responded to my hitting the red button or using #2. But then I kept losing my line without me realizing I had a dead phone line. I am disabled and landline is my only connection to the outside world and if I have an emergency. So no, this was not acceptable! These are what I experienced after a week and are ongoing problems: ~The red button would stay lit for no reason. ~Red button would not light up when the phone line was engaged. ~Numbers I blocked using #2 would not be recorded on the block list. ~Phone line connection simply cut, NO LINE ~There is no help available from the company! I can't tell you how many times I have tried by calling, searching for help online, nobody answers the phone. Customer service, support, nobody answers phone at CPR! I have tried for three weeks now to fix the problems which keep happening almost daily. ~I disconnected the blocker from the phone line, ~using the second option for phone line connection to blocker, ~reset it to factory setup, ~purchased, and replaced all phone cords a new short connection cable, added a gadget u use to lengthen the phone line. ~~ These are all temporary fixes, and I have to do this almost every day. I keep doing this because I spent the better part of half a year working to remove my phone number from being easily available, to have peace from spam and crack phone calls. If I stop now this fixing so I can keep blocking, it won't be but a couple of weeks before the phone will be again ringing off the hook, before my phone number will be traded as available and possibly sold on the web. All it takes is for me allowing all calls coming through, whether I answer or not, just because calls are allowed through. So yes I will keep fixing this piece of junk, and would you believe I paid $135. !!! for this !!! Since my phone base is right next to my bed I have easy access if I need to fix it. The craziest thing though, is that it disconnects my phone line mostly over night when there are no incoming calls. Invariably I will find my phone dead first thing in the morning, or the red button is lit and remains lit, during that time no calls are blocked. Problems remain almost daily and at different times. I have to keep unplugging the phone line and reconnecting, sometimes a couple of times a day. By the way, I have my answering machine always on, and I noticed that the blocker will disconnect after my machine answered, but no message was left. I also have to keep checking periodically to make sure I have not lost my phone line. Dreading the message: No Line. **This is not my first call blocker. The one before this one was one that came with 2000 calls preloadec/blocked automatically, and I could add more numbers myself. This unit (by dif. Company) worked for me for nearly a year. Then it stopped working, I believe that I had used up all the space available to record the numbers I added/blocked using #2. So I bought this because it has 10000 pre-loaded spam numbers, and I was hoping would have plenty of room for numbers I would load. This blocker has been a problem from day one, and no, it's not my equipment that is causing problems. WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS CPR CALL BLOCKER?? NO! NO! And double NO!

Stop those nuisance call instantly.
We were receiving far too many unsolicited calls on a daily basis. After researching similar products on Amazon I initially purchased a cheaper item which I thought would achieve the desired result but unfortunately it was unsuccesfull. This product hits the mark, absolutely superb, does exactly what it is supposed to do, easy to use and due to it's pre-programmed known spam numbers it has blocked probably 99% of unwanted calls. Any number that does mange to slip through is easy to block. Overall, a fantastic product and great value.
