Works on backless rugs!
Update as of 8/2/25: I've just raniut of my 3rd roll and I'm ordering another. I will say if you can get a pair of non-stick scissors, or use an agent that will discourage sticking like powder, lite lube, or even oil, it will be easier to cut or even use razors to cut it. It would be nice if this tape were perforated for easy tearing, while still allowing for customization of the tape piece itself. And I recently did have an issue with trying to reposition the tape this time, as it started pulling up a vinyl tile piece. But it can be easily removed with oil or soap and water. I purchased and received as gifts loose rugs with no thick or rubber backing, with silicone beading on one set. However, when I would go to try to vacuum either, even with the hose--it was tiresome and flung dust and debris in the air. I tried on tape and though it worked on my Dollar Tree pet mats (the small, rubber bottomed ones with sayings on them), it did nothing for the backless ones. I have a Shark vac, and if you own one you know the suction power it has. With my back issues, I was determined to find a carpet tape that held on for dear life lol. THIS ONE IS IT!! I just bought a 2nd roll, and have been letting all know who have issue with their carpets moving to try this one out! St about 1-11/2I in. wide, t is a thin, durable carpet tape that does come off the floor with minor force (i have vinyl floors) and the rugs with ease. I can say the other pulled up the tile lol, but that's no fault of that tape. As someone who was able to INSTANTLY vacuum our the throw carpets with ease (I could sense my vacuums defeat lol), and now don't have to hand vac them, or shake the off to attempt to get all of the diet out of rug (no vac is perfect, but it's much cheaper easier to clean when you can enjoy the process, and not dread it!) Awesome tape, and highly recommened!! Note: It says to use a knife to cut the tape, but I found that my scissors worked just fine, and even stuck less and was easier to cut the tape with. Just have a dedicated use for them, like office, or workshop. Though the adhesive does remove fairly easy with soap, to be save I wouldn't use any scissors that come into contact w/food ;)

It WORKS - if you NEED a rug to hold, this will do it!
Short story, my husband is bedridden as of 6mo ago. We came home in Dec, its just he and I, a couple of physically broken to various degrees Gen X'ers... Currently he's winning. I have to be able to pull him to either side of the bed and roll him over multiple times a day, and apparently more than two cheap plastic wheel locks that break and send pieces flying the first time they're expected to do anything, that wouldn't hold a crib in place, is considered excessive by insurance. After nearly putting myself in the hospital when bed and large man ran me over on multiple occasions because it wouldn't stay in place, the dme company finally tells me "your supposed to buy wheel coasters"... Nice of you to tell me, yes it probably should have been obvious but I'm still trying to cope with almost losing him suddenly and everything else that has meant, and I'm not exactly at my sharpest mentally. So, I bought the things you put under furniture wheels, and they worked... For about a month. Then the bed pressure against the tiny 1/2" bendy walls on those things suddenly gave, and the bed is coming at me knocking me over again. Nurse tells me, buy a shag area rug, deep enough the wheels sink in, that will keep it in place, we're both getting to old to keep trying to lift a bed with a large man in it every day - and he's right, so I do. Problem solved, the bed hasn't moved since. BUT - there's always a but - he has to be gotten out of the bed with a hoyer lift every other day at least, and now the rug poses a new problem, because insurance forbid they give a hoyer that steers or is relatively easy to handle... No, when shopping carts finally get put out to pasture because all four wheels are shot and clunking or dragging in different directions, they apparently get reincarnated into hoyer lift wheels so older humans with herniated discs, bad knees and hips, and a messed up ankle can have something to cuss at. And it absolutely will not roll over the rug edge. So now we're lifting a hoyer leg with a man who barely fits in the sling swinging from it. Nurse says he's bringing a carpet knife next time and cutting the center section out of my rug. I don't want that, because I'm finding having the rug under my feet also seems to be giving my feet more stability when I'm maneuvering hubby. Carpet tape to the rescue. I read the reviews on a few, and settled on this one. And the reviews were real, because this stuff has held the carpet firm to the floor where the hoyer goes right up over it. Finally, FINALLY, perhaps one of the hundred crazy issues that go with taking care of a bedridden loved one at home, is solved. 99 left to go. If you need a rug to stay in place, buy this stuff.

The Grippy-Non-Slippy Canine Chaos Conquering Tape!
I bought the YYXLIFE Double Sided Removable Rug Tape not because I had a tripping problem, but because I had a canine demolition crew. If your household is less "home sweet home" and more "dog sprint track," then this review is for you. My family consists of two high-energy Australian Shepherds (one of whom is still in the "terrible twos" of doghood) and a long-haired mini dachshund who believes he is a border collie. When I say they sprint from the living room to the backyard, I mean they reach speeds that would make a cheetah blush. Our muddy paws rug by the back door was ground zero for this daily canine stampede. Not only did they move the rug, but they dedicated hours to meticulously chewing the original grippy backing right off the floor. They weren't just running on it; they were performing rug-based surgical removal. After we amputated the offending chewed bits, we put this double-sided tape to the ultimate test: tile floors, high-traffic, and three dogs determined to prove Newton's laws of motion wrong. The Verdict? This Tape is a Miraculous, Unbudgeable Fortress. It’s been a full week of Zoomies at Maximum Velocity, and the rug has not budged. I’m talking about high-speed, sharp-turn sprints—the kind that usually launches a lightweight rug straight into the stratosphere. I've been able to vacuum with reckless abandon, and the rug just sits there, smugly defying physics. My only complaint is that the tape has completely ruined my dogs' favorite pastime: the mid-sprint rug-bunching game. They look genuinely perplexed that their escape path is now suddenly secure. The dachshund, in particular, looks betrayed. For anyone who lives in a house run by creatures with four-wheel drive and a deep-seated hatred for stationary flooring, this tape is a sanity saver. It holds tight, leaves no residue (I checked carefully before and after installation), and withstands the daily chaos of a dog park disguised as a home. Five stars—or perhaps, four paws up!

Strong enough to hold up against several teenage wrestling boys
We bought this for the rugs in our basement. we have concrete floors and this tape is holding strong. It survived several teenage boys wrestling around on the rugs and it didn't budge. I found that it was easiest to cut a strip and stick it to the rug first and then pull the backing off to stick the rug to the floor. I would definitely repurchase this tape.

Works very well.
Easy to apply. Sticks and stays. I use a knife to trim to length. Directions mention that scissors should not be used. Have not tried to remove.

Works well
Have a dining room rug where one corner always curls up. Tried a couple other products where the adhesion just was sufficient and it curled up again almost immediately. This stuff seems to be effective. Been a couple weeks and corner is still flat to the wood flooring. It’s held up to foot traffic and vacuuming etc The backing paper was difficult to get off

Works great! Cutting it to size can be a chore.
This product performs well, it’s highly adhesive and does exactly what it’s intended to do. My only issue, which may be minor for those who have figured out a good method, is that cutting it to the desired size can be a bit of a chore. Whether using scissors or a box cutter, the strong adhesive tends to stick to anything it comes into contact with, including the blades and even to itself during the process. In my case, this meant spending extra time cleaning residue off the tools afterward. It would be a nice improvement if the product were available in pre-cut segments, rolled for easy dispensing and storage. Otherwise, I’m very satisfied with its performance. If the manufacturer has any recommendations for properly cutting it, it would be much appreciated. This would have been a 5-star rating otherwise.

Exactly what I needed for my 4x6 area rug on top of low pile apartment carpeting.
I purchased a 4 x 6 foot area rug to put under my computer chair on top of my apartment's cheap carpeting, just to protect the apt. carpeting from getting worn too fast. My new area rug was getting crooked and messed up and not staying in place at all. This tape was exactly what I needed to resolve the issue. The tape is very sticky and I used an abundance of it and took my time applying it, making sure to keep my rug perfectly straight as I went, rather than lying down all the sticky tape at once as suggested. Glad I took my time and just unrolled and taped as I went once lined up. My area rug hasn't moved an inch since, and that was a few days ago. So far so good. Would buy again.
