Really great manual pump
I installed this foot pump in an older Aliner pop up camper that we have. Formerly, I had a noisy electrical pump to bring water from a simple container through a faucet and into a sink that I installed. This camper did not come with a sink or a water system so I created one on a budget. I thought that the convenience of an electric pump would be nice and I didn't want a foot pedal in the way of our small interior. Happily, the foot pedal is not much of a tripping hazard. It's easy to avoid and doesn't stick out as far as I had thought. We haven't had any problems falling over it. We don't often plug in while camping. Preferring to boondock and be off the grid, I didn't think about the amount of power that an electric pump utilized. Our tiny solar system and battery would give out after a day or two in the woods with minimal electrical pump use. This was a bummer while washing dishes, cooking or brushing teeth. Having this foot pump has really made life easier! This manual pump puts out a very strong flow and it produces a stream both on the down pump and also when the foot lever goes back up. Essentially it's double-actioned and you get two spurts of water for every single foot pump. It's also very easy to use. I imagined that it might take some heavy priming with strenuous action prior to any flow but that is not the case. The pedal depresses easily and starts to flow after only 1 or 2 foot pumps if the line is not primed with water already. Once the water line is primed with water it works immediately even after sitting unused for many hours. It's much quieter than a noisy electric pump. I used to cringe when camping near others if I woke up early and wanted to fill a kettle for hot water in the morning. The electric pump we had would rattle and roar at an alarming volume and could be heard from a good distance outside of our camper. No more! This foot pump is terrific. It's low tech, solidly built, easy to install, works quietly and has strong flow rate. It does cost more than an electric pump but it allows for a smaller solar / battery setup which is often a large expense for a DIY camper or van install. Being able to use it without any power at all is a huge perk too. I like the simplicity of this setup. I love not using up my limited battery power. I highly recommend this manual foot pump for a simple kitchen camper setup!

Great pump!
Great product! Works wonderfully for our off-grid sink. One end of the hose went into a bucket. The other end sent the water to the faucet and sink. The pedal pushes water to the sink as you go down and also as it goes back up. So twice. So it pushes a lot of water. We had to install a cap at the end of the faucet with a drilled hole. Just to restrict the water a little bit and not use so much water. But I would rather have that problem than not having enough water. Great product.

It double pumps
Installed in my sailboat and replaces a TMC brand. I've only used it about 5 times and so far it seems fine. I went with this bcs people commented the rubber lasts longer. An important point that I did not realize when ordering. My old TMC only pumped H2O on the down stroke. This brand pumps water on both the down and up-stroke of the foot pedal. I suppose that is efficient but personally I'd prefer if it did not do that as it increases your H2O consumption a bit. This also causes the H2O pressure to be lower on the up-stroke. But it's fine as I'm not crossing an ocean right now. Plug and play direct replacement, 5 minute installation.

Awful water taste- Poor knockoff of the original workhorse
My old Whale Gusher is a workhorse of a pump. My 2 Whales have served me well for 30 years(with occasional rebuilds). They do eventually crack around the mounting holes in the plastic. When I upgraded my drinking water system, I decided to treat the boat to this brand new pump. I did not know the design had been changed. It is a low quality pump. From brand new, the pump housing plastic outer shells are deformed where the screws hold the halves together. The old pumps had much thicker housings that have ZERO deformation after 30 years. The new pump halves are assembled using sheet metal screws- they MIGHT survive one rebuilding without stripping (if they don't crack first). By comparison, the old pumps were assembled with brass machine screws. Worst of all, the new pump gives the water a terrible taste- NOT suitable for drinking water or even brushing teeth. I flushed the new pump with sudsy dish liquid water, rinsed with gallons of tap water. When that didn't help, I soaked it for 5 days in vinegar water, more dish liquid then tap water rinse. After using the pump (for dish washing only) for a whole summer, the water from the pump is still unfit to drink. Stay away from this product. Makes me suspicious of buying any new Whale products. Update after 1 year of use- Pump works, but it still makes the water taste awful. Unfit to drink. I use it only for washing dishes. I have ruled out the water lines and the water tank as the cause. The Silicone hoses I used also impart a toxic taste, but it's different. Ultimately I tested each item in the system separately by washing the item and flushing it out thoroughly. Then filled it with filtered city water that we use for everyday drinking and cooking. After leaving the water sit in the item for 3 days, the water was poured into a drinking glass. The taste was compared to a second glass of our drinking water that had sat (in the glass) on the counter for 3 days. I used 3 days as a typical length of time water sits unused between week-end visits to the boat. Even leaving the water sit overnight gives the water a bad taste, although slightly less overwhelming. For the folks, like me, who are buying this pump based on the longevity and performance of Whale foot pumps that they've used for 20 or more years.... This AIN'T the same pump. Between the leaking, poor product support and horrible taste- buy something else.

Doesn't last forever
A really great device, but it only lasted us 5 years in our Promaster van. 2.5 of those years were full-time van living, and the other 2.5 have just been occasional/recreational camping. A gasket finally failed on us and leaked water all over the floor. We'd had small issues in the past, like with a pin falling out and causing the lever to not work, but that was fixable. The gasket was not, unfortunately. We just bought a new one to replace it, as we love having a foot pump, but wish they lasted longer.

Pedal defectuoso. Se rompe con facilidad.
El producto cumple su función, bombea agua de manera eficiente hasta que se rompe el metal del pedal. No duró ni 3 meses. Pésima construcción. No lo recomiendo.
