I read somewhere that babies need a wood texture to aid in their development. I took this out of the box and gave it to my 4 month old and he was instantly able to grasp the handle and hold it himself since it's light, and of course immediately put it in his mouth. You should probably sanitize it first. 😆 But given that it's wood and silicone, I'm betting it doesn't require cleaning as often as fabric toys. It isn't really noisy or has lights and sounds. Just a normal, simple toy with textures and colors for a small infant to enjoy.
