Flambeau Outdoors 5965MS Boss Buck - Masters Series Deer Decoy

This boss buck is great and I have 3 deer from this manufacturer. My Husband uses them for hunting and at Xmas I use them as decor. They are realistic and well made.

Set up in my back yard had a buck attack it the first day I had it set up. Looks real. I wish it had a stake to put in ground tho wind tends to blow it over.

I bought it for my backyard decorations and deer really looks good! I used tan color outdoor caulk to mask seams between body and legs and head. But head can't connect correctly and does not attach to the body, large gaps remain. Will see how it goes after winter

I ordered this for my husband. And he said it was a good size and easy to set up. It was a good value.

So I bought this decoy for fun. I have used it 5 times. In those 5 times, every buck that has seen it has come in to investigate it. I had a giant 10 last year hot on a doe, and the doe did not like the decoy, and she ran off. He was really torn between chasing her and investigating. He stayed right out of bow range before running after her. In 2024 Have had a 6 point that stayed for 9 minutes, a spike that was there for 6 (son shot him) and a 5 that came in on a string (son shot him) this year. So far so good. My kids named him Magic. All the deer that came in came in anywhere from 125 to 200 yards. I wasnt sure how to place him, and have read different things. I place him facing me and i sit downwind. They have approached from behind for the most part trying to scent him. I use a little bit of tarsal spray (2 squirts) underneath him to give the illusion of a real deer. when they come in behind, the usually try to position themselves in front which has given us nice broadside shots. I use 10 inch stakes to anchor his back feet into the ground. I may put some stakes in the front feet, because i am going to try him in a new spot soon that is windy.

Worked awesome. Had several bucks come into investigate when grunting and rattling. Seems to be well made for the most part. Legs are kinda shaky as the knobs inside don’t tighten down enough so I had to use some tent stakes to secure it.

I have installed my deer. Tighten the legs up with a wrench and anchored them to the ground. They look really good. Pretty good quality too very happy with them.

The Boss buck does the job but the product needs some tweeking from the manufacturer. The ears are twist installation with nubs to fit into the head, which over time may not stand the setting up and disassmbly. The legs have modified plastic nuts to better secure the legs but the plastic pin that inserts into the body are of soft plastic, small in size and do not stabilize the decoy legs. There are holes in the feet section to secure the feet to the ground otherwise it would be impossible in a wind to keep the decoy upright. The decoy is realistic and could fool another buck or doe. The antlers are removable so you could even use it as a doe or a buck with one antler if you perfer. I appreciate the thought and concept idea the decoy brings, but it may be better used as a holiday decoration then the fustration the product could bring after repeated setting up and disassembly. Even though I found faults that could shorten the life expectency, it is life size and will do the job in a wildlife setting. I suggest you add a realistic tail from a harvested deer by drilling a hole where there is no tail and put one there. It works...LOL

Very good decoy. Could have supplied some type of stakes to stop it from blowing over in light wind!

The bucks ran to decoy and does stayed away from it worked good for me and easy to set up and light to move around and put away every night

This deer looks very realistic pulling the sleigh on my float for our local Santa Claus Parade. Everyone asks me why his nose isn't painted red but I just explain that it is Donder and Donder doesn't have a red nose - only Rudolph does.

I was just expecting something a bit better for the price wasn’t what I expected but they refunded so can’t complain .
