Nice read
I purchased this book for a graduate course on Islamic law. It was used to provided a better understanding of how women are treated by Islamic law. Full of some great ideas and provides a deep historical analysis of the status of women in Islam. I would recommend this book to everyone who is interested in this subject.

Biased and superficial, inaccurate/infrequent analysis of original Islamic sources..
An excellent example of what happens when non-Muslims write the books teaching about Islam. I wouldn't read a White American's book to learn about the intricacies of African-American culture. I would read an African-Americans book on that.If you want to learn about Islamic Law, go to Islamic Legal scholars and sources. Obviously.

Five Stars
Finally religion is shown in a lived context instead of a theoretical set of rules.
