Excellent, the best so far!
Being the biggest BAR fan and F1 nut I had to buy this game. I noticed when buying this that it had a career mode, this makes the game for me. You start off as a lowley test driver and you have to make your mark by driving laps of various circuits at break neck speed. This is really challenging as you have to pull off perfect laps, you can't afford to mess up or the only people who will take you on will be Minardi and their car just wont win you races! All in all this is the best version they have bought out, well done Studio Liverpool!

F1 2004: a great disappointment!
I don't normally write game reviews, but this game was such a disappointment that I felt I had to write something. After playing WRC 2004, I was expecting something similar in terms of the overall experience, especially when using a Driving Force Pro wheel. However, I'm so glad I just rented it and didn't buy it straight out, because I took it back within hours. Never mind the graphics and sound not being as good as expected, the steering is just crap and I generally found the game far too boring. Ok, I'll admit that I'm not a huge F1 fan, but I do generally watch a few races of the season and don't find it boring. However, I can only see true F1 fans liking this, and even so, not for the right reasons. Surely someone must be able to make a better F1 game than this? If you're thinking of buying it, then please spend a couple of pounds renting it first if you can - I'm so glad I did!

Career mode is far too difficult
The game itself is as enjoyable as any other F1 game I've played. The problem lies simply in its career mode. I've played F1 games since F1 2000 by EA Sports and always managed to do well on the most hardest settings. With F1 2004 I've found it nearly impossible to come anywhere decent in the career mode and always find myself being demoted to the post of test driver within the team. I'll admit it can be just as disappointing if you are able to fly past Ferraris in your Jordan but when Minardis are flying past you gaining a further gap each lap it can become fairly annoying when you're not really making any mistakes. The bottom line is that the AI drivers are able to nail every corner perfectly and it seems the developers of the game expected you to be able to do this also with your joypad. Teams also seem to not accept that they are a middle to low order team. I came on average 13th in a Jordan during a couple of races and yet again found myself demoted. It's the same at Minardi if you are finishing in positions where they are expected to finish. The result is a game used occasionally for a single race.

Superb
First of all the one star reviewer, get the hell off the internet. the demo you played is an unfinished arcade version. In NO WAY does it show the quality of the finished game which i sampled today. Classic cars, updated tracks, career mode, improved A.I., online time attack. everything i tried out was fantastic and when this game is released for real i will buy it and probably a spare one incase the original gets damaged. i have always wanted to drive those old JPS lotus cars and the first ever Jordan F1 car on my little black box and now i can. If you are an f1 fan with a ps2 your silly for not getting this. if you thought formula one 2003 was brilliant you will think this is unbeatable. if you thought formula one 2003 was rubbish, your love of playstation f1 gaming will be reborn in this game. 5 stars.
