Christmas is on it's way and we ordered this for my daughter as a stocking stuffer, The best thing about this was the price, half of what you pay in the store. The toys are adorable and perfect for young kids, I would say up to age 8, as my 9 year old is not interested at all. These are the mini eggs, and I was hoping they would fit into the stocking but the packaging is a bit big for that for our stockings anyway which are standard size. As with any prime order it was here quickly and I am so happy I got such a great deal on one of this years hot toys.

My 4 year old daughter loved getting a hatchimal for Christmas so when I saw these new collectible ones I figured I would get them for her to see if she liked them too since she's a total collector (loves blind bags and other figurines)! She had fun breaking them out of their eggs although her big sister needed to help her a bit because it was a bit tough at first, but she enjoyed that process. It's a cute way of discovering which hatchimal you get! And she thought all of the hatchimals she got were so adorable! She keeps asking for more so I think I'll get another pack as a birthday present pretty soon! If your kids like collecting little figures or blind bags, they'll really enjoy these Hatchimals CollEGGtibles!!

I bought these are part of a birthday present for a little girl in my primary class. As soon as she opened my gift, she ripped open the pckaging and held onto an egg for the rest of the gift opening festivities. Her best friend took charge and held onto the rest of them. She had a hard time 'hatching' the egg, but it added to the challenge. She is 5-6 years old, so perhaps if you were getting these for younger, it would be a bigger issue. The animals were cute, and the packaging arrived intact, none of the eggs were broken.

I preordered these for my 4 year old niece who loves little figures and especially loves surprises. I had no idea if she would like them or, really, even what they were but they seemed cute. They come carded and there are four little speckled white and purple eggs with a purple heart on them. There is also a little plastic animal not in an egg, You press the heart and the egg sort of melts then cracks and exposes the little figure is inside. They are hard plastic and do not grow or do anything. They're very cute though. There is a checklist that a kid (or his or her parent) can check off which Hatchimals were collected. Some are rare or very rare. We actually got two very rare ones (pictured) although I don't know what that actually means unless you are intent on collecting every single one in the series and then maybe a kid can trade a very rare for a few less rare ones. My niece didn't care that the two were very rare, she played with them anyway as our hopes and dreams of making a million bucks on ebay went up in smoke. These are cute but REALLY small and there are little pieces that could come off. Please be careful and keep them far away from very young kids and babies. My niece is very mature and doesn't put things in her mouth or any such thing and no younger kids live there so they are safe with her. She has them in their half shells on a shelf in her bedroom and loves them although I honestly don't see the major appeal. At one point, these were selling for over $30.00. Not worth that unless you're a diehard Hatchimal collector. I paid $9.99 plus tax so the four eggs and the extra bonus unveiled little guy were worth it. I personally wouldn't pay much more though. But these made my niece very happy so I guess I did my duty as an aunt. I am going with 4 stars. They're cute, collectible, and fun to open but beyond that, they are just tiny plastic animals.

Save your money! I ordered one set at $14.98 because a granddaughter would be visiting soon, and I thought she might enjoy playing with the small figures on the flight back. I ordered a second set also from Amazon which was advertised at $9.98. Mysteriously, the price jumped to $14.98 after I put it into my cart. The excuse was that there was a limit on these even though I was buying the second set from a different seller. I picked up a third set at WalMart for $9.98. The seven year old was initially excited about the mini-Hatchimals, but soon became disappointed at how difficult they were to open. The directions say to rub the purple heart until it turns pink and then press just above the heart. The heart turns purple again once you stop rubbing. The egg also does not open easily. I actually took a paring knife to most of them and made a cut so she could open them. Then it was hard to break off the shell so there weren't sharp points to the "nest" at the bottom of the egg. Finally, we had them all hatched. The biggest disappointment was that there were several identical "twins" and "triplets". I would think that with three random sets the possibilities for more variations should be greater. My granddaughter put them into an indoor fairy garden. The play lasted about 30 minutes and that was it...no more interest.

The Hatchimals I received came in an opened package, the whole back of the package was off, and I got four of the same animals. I suppose they can be quadruplets. I never had duplicates in a Hatchimal set before so it was surprising to get four duplicates. They can be given away or they can be traded with other people. The paper that came inside has the animals listed and the horse is a "special edition" animal. I don't really care for the value of the item, it's more of getting a variety for me. I didn't like the quality of the egg hatching. Before they use to be heat sensitive, you could rub the egg in your hands and they would crack open. Now they have to forceably cracked to open. Even as an adult I had a hard time opening the eggs, my sister and I had to drop each egg onto a hard surface to start the initial crack on the shell to be able to peel the rest off. It would be difficult for a young child to open it on their own. In some Hatchimal products the shells open differently and can be kept as toys. These shells in this product are meant to be thrown away after hatching/cracking. This product is a very low price for hatchimals compared to how expensive they are in stores now. The styles of these are a few years older and they look more appealing than the newer hatchimals. If you're looking for affordable hatchinals, I would say buying just one of these is worth the risk.

This toy captures the fun of surprise toys, with the fun of the "hatching" of the original hatchimals with the kids craze for tiny shopkins like toys-all at a much easier price point than regular hatchimals. They come in a shell like the material used with regular hatchimals eggs; all with different color speckles based on what is inside. There is a heart on each egg - ours were all purple. When you rub them they turn pink and are ready to hatch. Hatching just means that you push the egg yourself until it cracks open and then take out the hatchimal! It comes with a checklist where you can check off each hatchimal as you collect it. Some are rare - just like with shopkins. If you child likes tiny toys - like shopkins - they will love this toy-especially since they can "hatch" them.
