Moomin Valley Botanical Art Porcelain Mug Yamaka MM173-11 Snufkin

Bought it because of the picture but porcelain itself isn't very good.

It came in a cute box with Moomin characters on it. The mug was a gift for a friend, and I didn’t have to wrap it since the box doesn’t show you what’s inside.

The quality of the cup itself (i.e. the porcelain/china), is top notch and has a nice ring to it. The problem is with the graphics. I am disappointed to see that it is silk-screened on as opposed to printed on and then glazed over (like most Blue Willow china). This means it won't last in the long run (especially if put in the dishwasher). I know mugs with silk-screened graphics are the most common and cheapest to produce, but due to the cost of this piece, I made the rational assumption that this would be of higher quality. I'm still going to keep it, but it looks like I'll be hand washing it exclusively.
