Squier by Fender 321600537 Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar - Antique Burst - Rosewood Fingerboard

The good: nice sounding alnico pickups, good looking, lightweight body (whole guitar is just over 5.5 lbs!), frets were level and the tuners work well, nice that they provide all 3 allen wrenches (including the one with the long L for adjusting the truss rod) with the guitar.The not so good: I would characterize this guitar as a work in progress as I received it. I found the following problems: bad solder joint on output, no sound until repaired - nut slots needed to be smoothed out, both the G and high E strings were hanging up and making that "sitar" noise - fret ends needed to be worked on, very sharp - tremolo was decked, and it seems the saddle height was set up with the back edge on the guitar top, when it was adjusted to "float" properly the string height was too low.I understand that this is not a Fender custom shop guitar, but you would think even the most basic quality check would turn up the fact that there was no output, or that the nut was faulty. These issues have not soured me on the guitar - it looks good, sounds good, plays good, and if it needed some work that's on me for taking it on - I'm sure Amazon would have sent me a replacement if I'd asked (but I really liked the flame top and burst on this one and didn't want to take a chance the replacement might not look so nice...).

I've been playing with it for a couple weeks now, I really liked it, the way it feels on my hands, the sound of the Humbucker pickup it's amazing. The only thought is that the humbucker kind of makes the single coil pickups sound not as good, but compared to any other squier stratocaster they sound just right. I know because my nephew has one and I compared them. I compared the sound with my Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro, and well it's not quite as good, but it gets really close, and the great thing about it, it's that it does not loose that fender typical sound. By the way, I was playing with a Fender Princeton Chorus and I really liked this combination.Thumbs up for the seller, I was getting a little feisty cause it took a couple days more than anticipated, but I contacted him and Immediately replied, He explained that the way they send packages focuses on getting the items in its optimal conditions, and not so much to make the date at the expense of damaging the goods. As he mentioned great delivery service for this kind of purchase.A great thing, the case it came with it's very nice, both looks and feels.

For this price, one can get a very nice guitar to start with. It is pretty beautiful and it sounds very good. I mean, is not a Fender, but materials are of good quality and the paint is great. If you are not an expert, I dare you to tell the difference from a much more expensive Stratocaster. The strings, on the other hand, are of a pretty cheep quality and don't keep very long. I would advise to change them immediately.

The Squier by Fender Standard Stratocaster Left Handed is my first guitar, and it is a fantastic instrument. I had no trouble teaching myself the basic chords and favorite songs of mine with this guitar.It comes with a tremolo system, which requires assembly. I haven't put mine in yet, but I'm sure it's very easy to do. It also comes with three small Allen wrenches, as well as a spring, of which I do not know its purpose. It comes pre-strung, so you won't have to mess with stringing for your first time when you get it. The factory strings broke in about two weeks, but no factory strings will last long. Also add in the fact that I was playing it for hours each day.The rosewood fretboard is very smooth and comfortable, which any guitarist can appreciate. The guitar body itself is beautiful, and has contours that you cannot see well, if at all, on the product photos. Choosing a guitar color is a subjective call from the guitarist, but I think most people will enjoy beholding the black metallic.I really have nothing negative to say about the Squier by Fender Standard Stratocaster Left Handed. Just buy or be ready to buy guitar strings, because the factory strings will most likely break relatively soon. Awesome guitar!

The pick guard is mirrored plastic as opposed to chrome as the title would have you believe.The guitar overall quality is what you'd expect from a cheaper version of a Fender made overseas, but I paid extra for this thing because the title specifically says "Black and Chrome" and I figured I was getting the chrome pick guard I wanted instead of a cheap plastic one that I would end up replacing. I could have bought a black squier with a white plastic pick guard for about half the price and just put on a new pick guard, but I figured I'd just buy this one with the chrome already on it.Nothing I hate worse than flat out lying about a product.I would not recommend this product to anyone. Get the version with the white pick guard for way less money and just buy your own chrome pick guard and put it on.

The biggest problem is that there is distortion and a static or buzzing feedback sound from the pick-ups when plugged in. I have a Fender Frontman 25R and a Fender Frontman 15G Amplifiers that I plugged this Squire by Fender 321703506 Standard into. (My Epiphone SG does not buzz in these same amps). The Squire by Fender guitar has 5 different settings. So the 1st selling has a tolerable quiet buzz, the 2nd & 3rd settings produces a loud annoying buzz, the 4th setting is very quiet, and the 5th setting is a loud buzz. So it really bothers me that the pick-ups are giving off the noise. Other than that it would sound pretty good. But even for under 300 bucks, this guitar should not do that. Good looking guitar though. Comments please let me know. (I don't want to spend more money to replace these to get better more expensive PU's), then it would defeat the purpose of the low priced guitar. Thanks.
