It's worth the time!
I wanted to update since it's been a while since we did this test. We continued to have issues with our girl and ended up paying for blood allergy test. I was happy to see that this test was pretty spot on to what the blood test showed. Only difference was there was more listed than what was in this test. It was a larger range but because she is pretty much allergic to everything, I now make her food. Still would recommend trying to start with over the costs of blood tests. The worst thing is having a pet that you can not help. We took our beagle from someone who couldn't keep her about three years ago. From that day we had issues with her skin and ears. Lately it has become terrible over these last few months. The past month her right ear was terrible and bleeding and people thought her ear was amputated. We ended up with another $2,000 in vet bills for terrible ear infections that they could not get under control. They told us try the allergy shots, we did and it did not help. She takes Benadryl daily, try removing certain foods. We did. Nothing helps. I tried making homemade food. This test took a long time for results, so if you want it faster then pay the extra fee they offer. When we received the results and the items that were listed we were shocked. She is allergic to so many of the foods she was getting. Beef, turkey, chicken, peas, corn, wheat, cheese and it goes on. I realized when looking at her list I was going to be back to making homemade food her. Since we started this a few weeks ago. She had been in the vet for her ears. They treated them the day I started her new homemade food. I put a cone on for two weeks while we switched her food to help keep her away from irritating the ears anymore. So far she is showing great signs and is so much better. Now she is out of the cone and her ears are looking great! I took what was on the list she did not react to and went with it and made homemade food and treats. She was obsessively licking non-stop and scratching. I can't say how happy we are to take the chance at this test. It has not only saved us money but saved our girl from terrible pain. I really am hopeful this will be our answers we needed since the vets allergy testing was horribly expensive.

Glad we tested for allergies
This is a good product. When we found out the results we immediately stopped giving some foods and now we donโt have issues.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT
UPDATE #1:Fifteen days after I mailed the sample back, I received an email that they had received it. In that email, they offered to get my results to me in one week for another $79.99. I am not impressed with this company in the least. I am also not giving them a dime more! I will update my review whenever I do finally get the results. For the record, I ordered another allergy test from a different company one week after I mailed this test back. I received the results of that allergy test two days ago. Pick a different company, your dog will thank you!Step 1: Cheek swab. Easy, as our dog is well trained and allows such things to be done (include this type of handling in your training, your vet will thank you).Step 2: mail sample backBIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! This portion is a joke! They say that you'll have your results in 2-3 weeks after they receive your sample. I call bologna! I suspect it takes 4-5 weeks but there are other options that are much faster so they don't admit that in order to get you to buy their test. It has been 2 weeks since I mailed the sample back, yet they STILL say they haven't received it. When I questioned that, they said, "While it usually takes 3-5 days for us to receive your sample, it can occasionally take 2-3 weeks." Really???? I ordered a test from 2 other companies a week later; I received the tests, got the samples & mailed them back, and they have received them and have started processing them already. Yet DNA My Dog still hasn't received my sample??? The sample is mailed back in a preaddressed, postage paid envelope that is included with the test. Is there a problem with said envelope? Two other companies haven't required WEEKS to get my samples! All were being mailed back to places within the US, unless the return address for DNA My Dog is just a clearing house where they are mailed out of the country in bulk. Either way, this is ridiculous! Spend your money elsewhere if you want some answers in a timely manner.I will update my review when I eventually get my results which, if they "receive" our sample today and take their minimum of 2 weeks to process it, will be 1 MONTH after I mailed it back! I fully expect it to be longer than that.

Allergy test
I purchased this for our dog who has allergies and requires injections every 6 weeks to manage his allergies hoping to learn more about what he is allergic to so we can better help him. It was advertised you get your results back in 2-3 weeks, however we are now going into week 5 and it is still pending. I have not received any notifications, so hopefully we receive the results soon. I think that any company should at minimum meet the standard they advertise and set for themselves. I will update again after test results return.F/u: After the original review was posted we received the results through email the next day. We thought the results were easy to read, if you click on the 'details' it doesn't state anything about your pets reaction, but explains what the item is they have an allergy to. We were surprised how many things he had allergies to, and it was in everything he was eating, to shampoo, & training treats. Since we have changed our dogs diet according to the results since, and we are pleased to see that he is itching far less, his fur is starting to return, and he appears more comfortable/calm. The first week, we just fed him a raw diet in combination with homemade dog food that he was not allergic to while looking for food he can have. Because his allergy list was so extensive we found only one dog food that he can eat that contains no allergens in it which was 'Natural Balance limited Ingredient for large breeds'. After all the research for dog food ingredients and reading so many labels, we are grateful this dog food had recently changed a couple ingredients they had posted online otherwise there is no dry dog food he would be able to eat.Overall, I think this product is great if it is able to help identify concerns-the company just needs to review their process for consistency from receiving their sample to when results are completed.

Best test
My new puppy was scratching constantly to the point that his skin would get so red and hot and he developed a blotchy rash on his belly and thighs. He would get so frustrated and let out these little cries. To see him uncomfortable I was heartbroken and desperate. I loathed giving him Benadryl but was left no choice but to do so. I began eliminating some foods that could be the cause but than thought what if it might be something other than just a particular protein. I feel like everything caused him to scratch - foods, area rugs, dust, heat, cold, playing and even cuddling him. It couldโve been one of those things. It couldโve been all of those things. It was so overwhelming and I started to feel hopeless. I wanted answers and as quickly as possible. I did some research and settled on this test. The test was easy to do and we got results in a little over a week. Make sure your pup is off antihistamines. The packet thats included in the box with directions on how to do the test will tell you exactly how long your pup needs to be off antihistamine prior to doing the test. We found out my puppy is allergic/sensitive to Rosemary, Olive oil, Turkey, Halibut, Molds and ants. I was initially feeding him chicken, than switched to a food that contained turkey before switching him to a different food that contained fish because I read that it might be better for allergies/sensitivities. When I looked at the ingredients all of the foods contained rosemary and the puppy food with fish contained halibut. Also the all organic shampoo I was bathing him with not only contained rosemary but olive oil as well. It all made sense now. With the results, I now had the information I needed to make my little one feel better which made me feel empowered as a new puppy mama. I switched him to a food that contained pork and other ingredients listed on his report that he does not have an allergy/sensitivity to and he is better. So much better. He now only scratches once in a while but thatโs normal. To the company of this test, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you.

Not sure about the accuracy, but it's a good to know
INFO: We bought this Feb 24, collected the sample a week later around early Mar and sent it in a few days later. The sample arrived at At My Pet on Mar 15, and they indicated it would process for 2-3 weeks. On Mar 31, they e-mailed us and said that it would take "1-5 days past the 3-week reporting deadline" due to COVID. We received our results on Apr 11.SAMPLE COLLECTING/PROCESS: We've done a puppy genetics test and this test requires significantly more saliva. Even with waving a treat in front of her face, this took 30-40 minutes since our dog isn't particularly drool-y. It's a painstaking process since you have to shove a thin wad of cotton in a plastic applicator in your dog's mouth near the gum area and wait for a pink dot to completely turn red (it's a paper dot). We were constantly removing the tube, checking the growth of the pink dot, and putting it back in her mouth as she looked at us with sad, puppy eyes. Not fun, but it's part of the process. The instructions after were relatively simple. They ask you to squeeze the saliva into a small provided tube, cap it, then ask you to send it with the given pre-labeled envelope. You just seal it and drop it off in a USPS mailbox. Afterwards, you have to keep the sheet they give you with a customer ID and register your kit online and register your account. The results took a while to come (3-4 weeks), but we weren't in a hurry and, with COVID, we weren't expecting to receive the results fast anyway. In the meantime, you could keep checking the website with customer ID. It went from Waiting to Receive Sample, to Processing, to Results. Nothing special.RESULTS: They give you a PDF with three sections. Red is if your dog is extremely reactive, yellow for mildly reactive, and green with a list of what they're not reactive to. They test 121 substances, including various poultry, meats, fish, mold, household pests, popular plants, grains, etc.Our dog was severely reactive to 5 items, and apparently mildly reactive to 18 items, including most meats and poultry, but not any dairy, including (which we know she's at least intolerant to, since she gets diarrhea when we feed her cheese or yogurt). I put screenshots of some of the results we received to give an example of what you might receive.Honestly, I think the conclusion is to take the results with a grain of salt and to realize the test gives you a general indication of what your dog might be allergic to, so you can start from there. The test said our dog is mildly allergic to, for example, chicken and white rice, but the dry food formula we feed her is primarily made of chicken and rice (she's eaten this for over a year) and she does fine on that. She also eats a lot of peanut butter treats and she's also done fine on that, despite the test listing peanut as a mild allergic reaction. She did have an ear infection when we fed her some rinsed turkey that had been seasoned with carrots and celery a few months ago during Thanksgiving (the test says she's severely allergic to turkey and celery, and mildly allergic to carrot), so there might be some granules of truth there. But again, grain of salt, and to simply test the food items just to make sure.

Surprise! Surprise!
It took a little longer than 3 weeks to get my dogโs dna results back, but itโs all good. I was surprised with the resultsโmy dog was not any of the breeds we were told she was at the animal rescue where I adopted her!

Best overall! Never been so happy!!!
Since buddha was a baby, she suffered from blisters on her mouth, back and feet. So like any concerned owner I looked for any possibility of what it could be. Never did I think it was allergies until I started to change her diet because of what I could afford. I would give lamb and brown rice one bag and when that was done I gave chicken. I didnt know what the heck I was doing to her until I thought after the countless diarrhea pickups and bloody spots on her back that it could be allergies. I looked online for pricing and went through alittle anxiety seeing just an alLERGY TEST CAN BE $300+ (forget the visit alone). You think a broke girl can spend that much for her baby? you can bet I was about to risk going into debt with doing it until my hubby snatched my keys and wallet... option 2 was to go on amazon and see maybe there was an alternative. Comparing 3 different versions and alittle risk had led me to going with this brand AND LET ME TELL YOU I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY, MY DOG HAS NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY AND MY HUSBAND CAN AGREE WITH ME FOR ONCE I DIDNT SPEND MONEY ON BS THAT WAS A FLOP OR I DIDNT USE lol. My baby went from moping in her bed all day not wanting to walk or move to being a big puppy that she is running around and wanting to play all the time. Thank you for the help!!!I promise this isn't a promo I dont want recognition for my review I just want to state my honest opinion. I don't write reviews cause ... well.. I dont but this deserved a great one.

Excellent service and amazing product
Test was relatively easy to diy but was unsure if ive collected enough salivia, but i guess i worked towards the 1.5 minutes overall and collection was successful. Customer service from allergy test my pet was fantastic and i received the results in less than 2 weeks. Its very shocking to know ive been feeding food that my dog has high intolerance to. So glad i did this test and im able to eliminate food without guessing or wasting time.
