How is this product different from Nanami Togarashi? The ingredients appear to be the same.

Shichimi togarashi is also called seven spice (shichi is "seven" in Japanese), because seven ingredients are generally used. It works well with fatty foods such as unagi (broiled eel), tempuras, shabu shabu (small bits of food cooked in rich broth), noodle dishes, and yakitori (grilled dishes). I know the ingredients have been repeated many times here, but do they also promote "low" or "no" sodium? I have strict restrictions on sodium..

Based on the this link http://www.chowhound.com/recipes/shichimi-togarashi-and-nanami-togarashi-10602 I am pretty sure there is no salt in this as shichi means 7 and that is the number of ingredients in it. I love the stuff. Goes good with anything.

Does this contain MSG or hydrolyzed yeast?

Glutamate occurs naturally in seaweed, yeast and many other foods. You are most likely consuming MSG on a regular basis and don't know it because it goes by other names. It's just a salt or ester of glutamic acid.

Not fishy at all, besides seaweed is a not bad thing. First you'd taste the salt and chili, but you'd have to use an awful lot of it to taste the heat.

Lovely Flavor!

I love this stuff! Other Shichimi brands had a tendency to make my stomach burn. I don't find that the case here. I also love the flavor. I highly suggest giving it a try.
