## Description

Stageek Floor Cable Cover

Review: Tough stuff that does the job with thick cabling! - Needed something to protect power cord and a thick 8-channel balanced audio cable run. This protector is totally up to the task. And, thanks to a noteworthy yellow stripe, quite visible on the floor to avoid trip hazards. But it's also low profile enough to run under a carpet, albeit creates a lengthy "lump" under the carpet similar to a wooden door lintel. And, it comes with an overlap piece to link multiple lengths together, should you need a longer run. Being this sturdy, it is somewhat stiff on arrival, but "settles" flat within a reasonably short time once it's unrolled and cable is inserted. If you need a good cable protector, this one does the job!
Review: It's like an old man who gets in your way on the way to the subway, but it does work well. - You need to be patient with this. I like the fact that it finally lays flat after soaking it in hot water for about 10-15 minutes. You'll need to bend it back a bit after the soaking before it gets cold again. It also took a few days to for it to lay mostly flat prior to soaking it. It comes rolled up. After it was delivered I cut the zip tie, unrolled it and put it on my carpeted floor for a few days with some heavy boxes on it. After that the ends still needed soaking, which worked well. My installation holds two heavy duty shielded cat 6 Ethernet cables and a quad shielded coaxial cable for my TV antennae. Because I have it on plush carpeting it doesn't need any double backed tape or anything, it just lays flat and prevents my guests, and me, from tripping on the cables when I go out to the balcony. If I lived in a house, I currently live in an apartment, I would probably run the cables into the attic instead of this, but the place is not mine to do that to. It's nice that it has the yellow caution line on top which makes it easier to see in the dark, but it won't glow in the dark. It also came with a connector which I will save for future use.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Opinions please: I want to run romex from an existing outlet across a doorway on floor to new outlet & use this to replace the saddle. Good/bad idea?**
A: I would not do that because Romex does not have enough external insulation to protect the internal wires, which are not low voltage. Romex is designed to be used in the wall where it will not be subject to movement. Instead, I would use service cable and go one gauge up from the minimum, meaning if you are doing a 15 amp circuit you would normally use a 14 gauge, for this situation I would use a 12 gauge.

**Q: Will a robot vacuum get stuck on this?**
A: Although not familiar with Robot Vacuums, depending on how the cleaner "scans", it might, or might not, find the 3/4 to 1 inch rise an insurmountable issue, depending on where it's placed. If it's under a carpet, which would permit a more gentle "rise", the unit might likely be able to "climb over it" although it might not clean the rug-rise as effectively as the rest of the carpet. But if exposed, the side ramp might be too abrupt for the vac to rise over it.
Sorry it's not a very definitive answer, but you could check with the robot vacuum manufacturer, providing a weblink for the Cord Protector or it's dimensions for the vac manufacturer to examine.
Best of luck!

**Q: Will this fit 2 power stripe extension cords?**
A: Dear Customer,

Yes,it will fit 2 power stripe extension cords.

Stageek

**Q: Recommended for carpeted floors?**
A: I don't see any reason it couldn't be used on carpeted floors, however you will definitely need to relax the material either by soaking it in hot water or use a heat gun. This is because it comes rolled up and needs the extra heat to lay flat.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not Perfect, but Perfectly Adequate
*by P***I on September 11, 2020*

I needed to run a very thick power cord and two network cables from the wall to my desk, so was looking for a cable housing that would not require using adhesives on my new carpet. This does the trick - it holds all three cables easily. I unrolled it when it arrived and put weights on it to lose the curl for 24 hours and that helped a lot - but the length I'm using (half that provided) is still not laying completely flat. It's definitely less of a tripping hazard now, between the bundling of the cables, the yellow stripe and the fact that it lies ALMOST completely flat. Still putting weights on it overnight to encourage it a little more.
