Alive and healthy!
Honestly I bought this because I heard it was difficult to grow, and I wanted to try it. I have carnivorous plants, and I use dried sphagnum moss for those. So it arrived green and healthy. I put some dried sphagnum in a saucer and put the live moss on top. I set it in the sun next to my other plants, and keep it half full of distilled water. So now it's lush and growing and getting bigger, and I really don't know what to do with it. I treat it like just any one of my plants and enjoy the plate-o-sphagnum. If you're looking for live sphagnum, I can definitely recommend this one!

Better Than Expected!
This stuff is fantastic! I use it for my Nepenthes and other carnivorous plants. It arrived healthy and also included a couple of live insect 'hitchhikers'. My Flytraps really enjoyed those fresh snacks! People complain about a lot of 'trash' included with this moss. That's silly! This stuff is naturally harvested, not grown in a laboratory! Of course you are going to find pine needles, leaves, small twigs, etc. "Get over it!" It's a natural product and the amount of moss vs the price is more than reasonable! I'm very happy with this product and will definitely buy from these folks again!

Love this product, great value for the price!
My moss is doing great! I’ve put it in a clear tub that is under a grow light, and I mist it 2-3 times a week (I could probably go down to 1 time a week now that the moss is growing). And it is happy as a clam, growing taller. It helps my cuttings and baby plants retain water and is growing wonderfully now! When I opened the baggie and took the moss out, it smelled like a forest floor (like damp soil and plants), so very pleasant! There wasn’t any dying moss in my batch. Some of it had lost its color, but that’s no big deal. The majority of my batch was lush and green! I was really happy with how much moss I got, and it’s basically going to keep growing, so it’s great value for the price! Very happy with this purchase

Green and white on top. Smells fresh and alive. Bag interior moist on arrival.
I mean I really can't say it's a value for the money. I feel like it's expensive, but where else am I going to get it? Came in with about half of the top white. This could be the lack of light since harvest, hard to tell. Bottom is brown, as expected. Bag was moist inside, as expected. Bag was not really all that full. The corners had no plant in them. I know you can't pack it too tight, and it's not like it was a bag of chips, half empty on arrival. The smell was amazing, and evidence of life. There's some debris, but very little. It was alive, and likely out in nature, there will be a stick and a leaf. But looks pretty clean. No bugs found yet, package has been split for propagation. We will see how it goes. Package was the same type of sphagnum shown in the picture. I paid the extra dollar for faster shipping to keep it alive in transit into the humid and hot south. It is alive, just not sure if I would have bought a package that looks like this if it was at a nursery, where I could pick between bags.

Great for my carnivorous plants
As someone who’s really into carnivorous plants, finding quality moss can be a bit of a challenge. I was pleasantly surprised by this purchase. The moss arrived alive, healthy, and vibrant—exactly what my nepenthes, sarracenia and other carnivores need to thrive. It’s perfect for creating a naturalistic environment and holds moisture just right. Definitely a great find for fellow plant enthusiasts!

Don't believe the hype
Bought this based on the reviews. What I received was decent but quite a bit was dead and unusable. Looked like someone just ran out in the backyard and ripped a swath of moss off a tree and mailed it.

Whoops I bought a lot of moss
Lot of moss for the price. I thought it'd be a flat "sheet" of moss but no, the bags are packed. Most of it was green when it arrived. Brown parts aren't dead, I've got all of it on a bed of dried sphagnum moss and expect they'll be green again in a couple days

Nope...
This was definitely not the best quality sphagnum moss I ever bought. Most of it was dead and brown compared to other live sphagnum I bought. ( In which the entire bag was fresh and green.) It was also infested with a colony of medium sized ants. I opened the bag to take a portion out and the ants suddenly spilled out from the inside. It wasn't a pleasant surprise. Fortunately I was over the sink when I did this and rinsed some of them off.
