Golden Nectar Organic Leatherwood Honey by R. Stephens – 500g Jar – Product of Tasmania, Australia

I only recently discovered Tasmanian Leatherwood honey, and it's among the best I've ever tasted. I've been using Manuka honey (the really good stuff) and there's nothing like it. Same here—Leatherwood honey has a unique flavor—floral, earthy, and buttery. When tasting it from a small spoon, I'm surprised each time by the complexity of the flavor and aroma. This special honey is now my everyday honey for toast, tea, and . . .

I have been using Tasmanian Leatherwood honey for at least 20 years and I always carried it in my health food store for that amount of time. It has certainly been my favourite gourmet honey because of the beautiful flowery perfumed taste. I have bought from the Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey Company all these years, and generally buy their largest tin. Alas they were out of stock on Amazon this time so I decided to look around and found Golden Nectar honey by R. Stephens. I was a little wary at first, but decided to go for it for two reasons: one it is a little less expensive than the other honey unit for unit, and two it is Organic! I love to support organic famers and do whenever I can. My guess is that the Tasmanian Honey company's honey is also organic but they don't state it on the tin. The bottom line is that R. Stephens Golden Nectar is every bit as lovely and as perfumed to taste as the other, and it has a delightful unctuous mouthfeel. I am using it and enjoying very much. Thank you. A++++

This exotic honey must be tasted to appreciate it's unique flavor. From a Tasmania Parks website: "The leatherwood is well known in Tasmania for the distinctive tasting honey produced from its nectar, a lovely yellow, gummy substance collected from the white flowers. During the warmer months of December and January, the four-pet​alled, 3cm diameter flowers can cover​ the whole tree in a white cloak." I have not tasted an American honey as distinctive. This will lend itself to honey tasting and a small amount goes a long way. Try in herbal teas, mixed with real salted butter on fresh hot scones.

My sister ordered a case and shipped it to me directly from Australia. This is not the same honey, it is a mixture with possible 1/8 leathewood. My purchase from.Amazon is dark and has a liquefied texture. My jars from Aussy had a golden color and a distinct flavoure that last. The jar cap is not sealed,which is an indicator that they are filling the bottles with mix blend and shipping..its a money grab not 100% leathewood honey

This honey is uniquely delicious! It's fragrant and at first taste it's sweet and floral, and then it mellows into a purple grape flavour that's quite amazing. Tastes amazing in tea! I will definitely buy this again.

I am just learning about honey, not an expert of any kind. I have tried a few interesting types, and this is by far the strongest flavor. After a little sample, I can still taste it an hour later. The taste is more like the smell of a fine Japanese incense than anything else I can think of to describe it. Just a tiny dip on the tip of a spoon just explodes your mouth with flavor, unlike any other honey I have yet tried. It is better than breath mints. So far this is my top favorite. I can't even imagine what to do with it other than just take little dips by themselves. It seems like a waste in tea or even on bread with peanut butter, though it certainly changes the flavors of both. Really exotic flavor, and all the way from the rain forests of Tasmania. Love it.
