If the sensor is constantly struggling to maintain a connection to your network, the battery will drain much faster than expected. Water leak sensors actually rely on a very simple physical principle. They use two small metal probes that, when bridged by water, complete an electrical circuit which triggers the alert. The range hasn't been a problem between the hub and the sensors. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's an okay concept but not fully sold *by O***Y on April 26, 2026* I'm usually a full in fan of ThirdReality products but this one I'm kind of meh about. I gave it 4 stars but really it's a 3.5 star item for me. So I needed to replace some water leak sensors from the old Govee wifi options I've been using. I don't like devices that need to access a cloud especially ones in a critical role. So I was happy to have a Matter option given I use a HA setup and a Matter antenna with it. The sensors weren't the simplest to connect to Home Assistant. They took a couple times getting the hub connected which isn't a typical issue for me and Matter devices. The actual sensors have a good amount of battery life and I like the appearance with the water drop shape of them. Getting 3 Matter sensors for under $40 is a good price and value for your dollars. While the sensors are small enough to get into tight areas I need to monitor for water leaks, I will say that the central hub being the only part that alerts is a little annoying. I get the idea that maybe you might not be near enough to hear the sensor itself but it feels like these would be better with the ability for the sensor ALSO to alert. Just for peace of mind. I'm circumventing this by setting up my own announcing alerts inside of Home Assistant but more alerts are better. The sensors do quickly respond to moisture which is good and they seem to be accurate enough to detect a small drip before it turns into something big as long as you have good intentional placement. Overall it's good I just have a little bit of thoughts on overall build of the sensors.
