I’d had my Dimplex Optimyst fire just over a year when the flame affect stopped working. After researching, I thought it was likely to be this. After seeing the original part was over £60 I decided to give this one a try. Super easy to fit and works just like the original. Only been in a week so will see how long it lasts and update review at that time.

I’ve had an opti-myst fire for 5 years. Apart from an initial fan failure early on, replaced under warranty, it has worked fine until recently - although I only use it on an occasional basis. The fire was beeping and switching back off 30 seconds after powering on. I initially thought that the small fan (that blows the water vapour) had failed, but replacing this had no effect, so it was most likely to be the transducer that was the problem. After a search, I decided to try the spares-2-go transducer as at a reasonably modest cost, it would be not too much to lose if it did not solve the problem. Happy to report that my fire is up and working fine again. As others have commented, you do have to be careful with this part to ensure that the transducer is positioned correctly, otherwise you won’t get the desired effect - this part does not have the additional locating lug that the official part has. Be aware that the action of connecting the cable can shift the position of the transducer, so it may take a couple of goes to get the position just right. Other than that, it does the job just fine.

Worked for 3 months. Now nothing. Nice while it did. Disappointed.

I’m glad it’s working well for most, but it isn’t working well enough for me, meaning that it’s been a waste of money. I have the optimist grand noir and the water in the sump cannot sit 1 to 2 cm above the transducer’s black bobble, as suggested in the product details. It is smaller than the original transducer, too, and I found it difficult to place in exactly the right position. It may feel quite sturdy, but it just isn’t the right size. The best I can say is that I at least know the fan is working, because smoke is produced for a short time, but I’ll have to buy a Dimplex transducer, sadly.

fixed the issue with the 'smoke element' in my electric Dimplex fire.

Replaced a failed dimplex unit. It worked instantly. Now to await longevity. It lasted4 months before the steam affect stopped although the glow continued. We got it going again but in April it totally gave up so 6 months life
